Because they're actually good!. The KSC75 are $18 open back clip on headphones, and the Quarks are $13 IEMs, and they are both shockingly good sounding for the price. Now obviously they're not amazing in technical detail. But for their price, I would take them over most headphones under $100, and that's impressive at their price point

My Sennheisers died and I bought a set of those clip on koss headphones to hold me over till I decide what to buy next and they're good enough that I've just been using them and haven't really gotten around to buying another big set. I still will but these things are totally serviceable.

Sadly koss headphones cost wayyyy too much in asia, portapros cost 30 while kph30i almost 50. I’m impressed with the kph30i but for 50 bucks? Thats the price of the shp9500 here on sale

Tbh Porta Pro X and SHP9500 are my end game. Every headphone and IEM feels uncomfortable (I notice it more on one side of my face/one ear than the other). I realize that’s because no one has perfectly symmetry anatomy but I have OCD diagnosis and it’s one of those things that bother me to the point I can’t enjoy music. Those two are very comfy though, so to me they are better than anything else (even the HD8XX was uncomfortable despite the huge cups). I use Apple EarPods too because I can’t stand any IEM

Story time.

Before Covid I visited headphone audioshop in Akihabara, Tokyo. They had plenty of headphones. So I was auditioning bunch of different headphones, hifiman, audiotechica, sony, senneheiser, etc. so I auditioned like 50 or more headphones and they didn't really appeal to me. Some headphones was too boomy, too neutral or boring or just didnt sound right to me. Some headphones like Ananda sounded good, but the price tag wasnt appealing.

So as I was getting tired of auditioning different headphones, I saw Porta PRO hanging on its cheap metalic headband. I was like, I gonna give this headphones a listen, criticize, destroy it and get call it a day.

So I put Porta PRO on my head, plug it in my iPhone and then my jaw literally drop. The darn thing sounded better than 90% of headphones I auditioned that day and it was the cheapest of them all. My ears were like, "finally, I good sounding headphones". How the hell is it legal? I was trying to find a flow in them, but they just. sounded. good. They instantly reminded me of HD600, the headphone that just sound so good to my ears, that I can't raise my voice to criticize it.

If I didn't own HD600, I would totally purchase Porta PRO. So yes, I would highly recommend for new newbies to try KOSS headphones (KSC75, porta pro) and set it as a reference sound.

The truth about the cheap "Endgame Meme" Headphones/Earphones

 Saving up a little more to get the Spaceship, also from Moondrop, is much better all around. For $20, the Spaceship gives a metal earphone shell, a little less but better bass, and much better detail and technicalities.

 The Quarks are not technical and lack a lot of detail. The overall sound is too laid back. Bass sounds one very one-note, mids and highs are laid back to the point where songs just lack energy and lose detail. Lively music becomes boring from the lack of energy

 The cable is also very prone to microphonics when you hear the cable rub on to anything but it can be fixed by wearing the earphone upside down for the cable to go behind the ear.  The sound is where most of the sacrifices were made to hit the price point. The Quarks are not technical and lack a lot of detail. The overall sound is too laid back

 Bass sounds one very one-note, mids and highs are laid back to the point where songs just lack energy and lose detail. Lively music becomes boring from the lack of energy. I'm not the one to notice sound stage from earphones but it's very apparent that the Quarks have a very small sound stage limited to only right or left.  The Quarks are at an awkward place in my opinion

Good tuning but has too little detail

 At just 6 Singapore dollars more compared to the Quarks, it's a much better deal in my opinion. Another somewhat interesting comparison would be the Sony MH755. I know they are pretty hard to find these days, and would require changing the cable, but I think they sound better than the Quarks as well. The mids are a little leaner, but bass reaches a bit deeper, treble is more extended, it's a bit less shouty, and I think it also has better technicalities all round

 Hey there, Alex here. Since I'm a fan of bullet style IEMs, and I've always been interested in Woondrop's products, I ordered the new quarks as soon as I saw it being listed on Shopee. It also helps that they cost just around 17 Singapore dollars. So without further ado, let's take a closer look and see if they're any good

 But since there isn't a ton of bass, it doesn't sound bloated or anything like that. There is an okay amount of body in the mids, and vocals have a decent presence in the mix. However, there is a pretty noticeable peak at around 3kHz which makes brighter female vocals quite shouty for my taste. It doesn't sound superlant to me, and treble in general is quite subdued

 Moving on to how they sound, they have a relatively neutral sound signature with an upper mids boost. Bass is not the most elevated, and is more focused in the mid-bass region. But since there isn't a ton of bass, it doesn't sound bloated or anything like that. There is an okay amount of body in the mids, and vocals have a decent presence in the mix

Side by side the Quarks sound noticeably more defined, even though they don't perform that well in this aspect either. The texture of is also not smooth sounding. It's a really noticeable issue to me where everything sounds slightly rough, almost like the sound is slightly shimmery sounding

I usually take a week or so to use and test a new pair of headphones, but these have been something people have been asking for. I spent all day yesterday using these and comparing 


Alright so... these are very obviously Airpods Pro clones. From the design, down to the tuning. Even the tips are almost a direct copy of the soft shallow tips of the airpods Pro.

Tuning wise, these aren't bad actually. A bit less of a bass boost than the Quarks and Galaxy Buds Pro. They also lack the 2k shout of the Quarks as well. The tuning does actually remind me of the airpods pro although with a little more treble energy. main issue with the tuning is the treble can be a little peaky and fatiguing. This isn't usually as issue, but this unfortunately emphasizes the flaws in the background noise coming from these.
The Moondrop App has other eq profiles, but I prefer to stick with the default 

While the tuning is alright and actually sounds enjoyable when just listening to music, we really start to lose points when getting to the technical aspect here. One good thing is they actually don't sound super in your head. This is something that very closely reminds me of airpods pro where it feels slightly airy and like sound is generated just outside your ear rather than in your ear canal. 

The ANC works decent enough. It is able to reduce the loud hum from a big fan down to a hiss, but the passive isolation isn't the best so hinders the overall isolation even with ANC.

There is a constant background hiss and noise. This is an issue for some, and not so much for others, but it's there when nothing is playing. The background noise increases when ANC is enabled.

To sum it up... it's a cheap TWS with decent tuning, but the technical performance and background noise holds it back just enough where I don't know if I would feel comfortable to give this to someone without them feeling like it's just another cheap airpods pro knockoff


Edit, had some family try them, they liked them, but one thing I noticed is they bleed noise a lot for an IEM

That's too bad. I was gonna buy these just for fun because they're cheap but doesn't look worth it. I've been so incredibly surprised by the Pixel Buds A I got for free with my new Pixel 6 Pro and that's actually been getting a ton of use lately

Moondrop Nekocake: So close to being good

One of the best in terms of sound quality for the money. Lacking on the high end but serviceable.  The cable became stiff after a couple weeks of use. One of the channels stopped working

You get what you pay for

Their fit is usually a problem though. Moondrop Quarks is $15 for a warm DF neutral sound and they may be the cheapest that is worth the cash.

 I am a bit new to the IEM thing and from what I have watched from Youtube videos that the Aria is a popular recommendation but the problem with it is the price because I am on a tight budget.

Are there any cheaper alternatives to the Moondrop Aria?

The earphone are very lite and comfortable to wear.i would only use these for podcast and audio books not to much for music.
