 It does really well for gaming. It does very good for placement. Isolation and separation of instruments is extremely well. The soundstage on this does a very good job of letting you know where everything is and how it is interacting with each other

 Can't say enough. You want to do some critical listening with a $40 IEM, here you go. This is your boy, the Moondrop SSR. Love it, highly recommend it and this is an amazing amazing IEM for $40

 You just have to give them a little more juice. So if you have something that has a little extra oomph, they sound the best. I prefer them on the Xduo Link, the NextDrive Spectre X and also I like them on my desktop. I like them on the 789 being sourced by the MyTech Liberty

Jumping on the Starfield bandwagon.

 So, I tinkered with them a bit. After removing the nozzle grills, carefully putting a couple small foam inserts inside the nozzles to tame those highs, and taped over the pin-sized exterior nozzle vents, the tuning improved significantly! Honestly these babies sound awesome after those mods! Wide, detailed soudstage, deep extension, decent isolation, and smooth highs. All the qualities you want from a good IEM. The real nice thing about these SSRs is that the impedance is high enough that they can be used with a tube amp like the Darkvoice 336SE without producing any background hum

So much potential, but not very good without mods IMHO

Chi-Fi IEMs rundown (details/"reviews" in the comments)

 The only relevant IEMs that I can compare these with are the Blon BL-01 and Final Audio E-3000.  I'm not going to go into detail on how these sound, but I'll say these are definitely a keeper. Comfortablility, check. Looks, check

 The rumble is there without the bloat. Maybe if you're a teenager to early 20s, you may prefer the SSP, but these to me are almost perfect bass. If the sub bass extension was just a little bit more forward, we'd have an end game for me. I'm not a believer in dropping hundreds of even thousands in IEMs as they'll always be secondary to me

Update: Modified the star rating to a 2.5 due to durability. One side basically died after a couple of months. I did get a replacement but that one also died after a few months

I want an IEM with over the ear loop to listen to technical books using text to speech. So music isn't important at all. Just good for synthesised voice. Ergonomics very important. Needs to be light and almost imperceptible for all day wear. Loop/hook over ear keeps them stable as I walk around. Need to look understated and professional so no gamer/bling aesthetic. Either black or clear. Also inexpensive.

IEM for TTS

 They sound very mid-focused and not too sharp. The low end isn’t mind blowing but it is there and has a decent enough punch. Imaging is great and soundstage is surprisingly wide. They sound the most like the Tin P1 and a little like the KZ ZS10 Pro

I’m sure I have a defective unit and will get them replaced but this isn’t a great look for a product that was just released

 I can’t recommend them based on the quality issues but the sound is quite good. If you’re willing to deal with the Chi-FI QC lottery, then go for it. If they were in 100% condition, I would probably recommend them over the ZS10s and the T3.  All listening was done on a Hiby R6 Pro, listening to FLAC and MQA Tidal streaming, using the stock unbalanced cable

Moondrop SSR is a $40 IEM which I really like the sound of. It’s not nearly as bass forward as a lot of IEMs and has a lot of detail for the price. Now for the kicker: it’s tiny and you literally forget they’re in, plus they come in white, pink, and mint. Additionally they’re kinda shaped like hearts!

Heyo. I listen to rock, pop, a bit of metal, electronic music, rap and whatever else catches my interest. I will be using them for streaming and music, while gaming won't be too much of a priority. Just need a pair of quality headphones for the low budget. Suggestions? Thank you!


p.s if it helps, I live in asia so there may be shops here online that could help. am also currently looking at onikuma and redragon, though I don't necessarily like the "gamer" aesthetic but am open to it

Yo! Looking for budget headphones (under 35$) that are good for music and chatting (just chatting-type streams), and gaming capable, though this is not a priority. Preferably white or pink

 These earbuds do seem like open back ones and some modifications with electrical tape can help with bass sound and quality. Vocals, highs, and mids sound pretty solid. EDM, distortion, trap, and heavy bass notes won’t have that much oomph or clarity as other IEMs will present. These ones compensate with very very clear everything else

These sound really good for the price, though the bass isn’t booming. Vocals and “sound-stage” overall are amazing especially for this price. The quality of these earbuds are very nice too. The IEMs themselves are pretty small, solid, and well built

Really Great IEMs

My sister has Samsung S8 and she loved the AKG headphones that came with it... but they broke. Now she's using a pair of KZ ZSN of mine that I bought to try them out (I didn't like them). She doesn't like them mainly because they are too bulky and unconfortable to wear (she hates that the cord has to wrap behind her ears). 

As on the 5th of august it's her birthday, I want to give her a new pair of headphones. I can't find the original Samsung S8 AKG (with jack, not USB-C) anywhere, so I'm looking for a pair of headphones with the following features:
1) cheap but not bad for their value;
2) confortable to wear and possibly with a cord that doesn't tangle (flat or, as with the Samsung AKG, not made entirely of rubber);
3) with a good noise canceling level (sometimes she uses them just for that):
4) bass-heavy (that's what she says she liked about the AKG) but with a clear sound, not too much muffled.

She uses them only with her Samsung S8 to listen to music and watch youtube videos.
