 So let me just quickly begin by talking about what this all comes with. You get the IEM of course and then in case you get this little carry case which I really like. This is a really nice small one and then you get a bunch of tips here as well. Now unfortunately my measurement rig is not useful at all for IEMs to the point where I just haven't been I haven't bothered publishing it because I don't want to mislead anybody and the reason for that is that while there is an outer ear rubber piece there the once you get past the outer ear it's literally just a tube that goes to a microphone and so there isn't any shaping to the inside where the IEMs would fit into your ears and so it doesn't take into consideration properly the various different gain factors that are conferred by the different parts of your ear canal and the eardrum the compensation that they use does try to get it somewhat right but it's a little bit all over the place so I can't really rely on that and I don't want to mislead anybody but thankfully the Moondrop Starfield is tuned to the Harman target and if anybody wants to know more about the various different targets that exist check out some of the links below but actually as far as I'm aware all Moondrop IEMs are tuned to some sort of Harman target and because I don't have any measurements for this I'm basing it mostly off of how I hear it you can also find some graphs online if you just Google the frequency response for this I think you'll come across a number of them so if you really want to check that stuff out go ahead but the way that I hear this is that there's a little bit of base emphasis there it's not too much but it is a little bit emphasized to follow the Harman shelf I find it extends a little bit further than I would like but I don't think that it really detracts from anything it just adds a little bit of extra sense of that fun quality and then the mid-range for the most part is it's fairly neutral I don't hear anything out of out of balance it doesn't sound muffled or muted or anything like that but then when it gets into the upper mid-range like around 3k 2 or 3k I do hear a little bit of an emphasis there that it comes across as like just a little bit of a shout it could be the case that this is not actually emphasized and it's more that the area above that so say like 4k to 7k is just withdrawn a little bit or 5k to 7k and so the balance isn't quite where I want it to be in relation to where 2 to 3k is but at the same time it's not a lot and it really isn't all that offensive for most recordings occasionally I'll listen to a recording where I just go oh that guitar tone is just not quite the way that I want it to be but really I apart from that this the frequency response here I think is fantastic you know there's no sibilance issues it's a very smooth sounding treble response really if there's a flaw in the frequency response I think it's that you know the treble proper is just a little bit withdrawn it's not as much doesn't have as much energy as I think I like and then thankfully though above the consonant range so like 9 10k to 12k there's tons of air for this IEM as well like the treble comes back and so it's wonderfully well extended in the treble in the upper frequencies as well so really it comes across with an extra sense of resolution that I think you know the dynamic driver in here really it shines most strongly in the mid-range in the lower mid-range but because it's able to extend so far in the treble and extend as well as it does I think it actually gives a better sense of resolution than what the let's say internal detail retrieval or what I like to call internal detail retrieval would would tell me there for the lower mid-range compared to the upper treble you know for the detail retrieval in the treble you do notice that this is a lower priced entry-level IEM that's really where the limitations start to show up but you know the frequency response for that range is fantastic you know for IEMs I think you have to be a little bit more scrutinizing for frequency response because not everybody has one of these ANK SR15s with an EQ in it so you know it's not as easy to EQ your IEMs as it is to EQ your over your headphones so I'm gonna give this an 8

 This is a dynamic driver in-ear monitor that comes in right at around $110. So this is an entry-level IEM. So let's take a look. This unit was provided by Shenzhen Audio

 Bear in mind that I don't think that's any replacement for actually listening to the headphones and reviewing them and going through the whole process and A&Bing them you know you have to do side-by-side comparisons to really get a sense of how they compare and so for my conclusion do I recommend the Moondrop Starfield? For IEMs getting the tonality to sound good getting the tuning to be really really good is so important and you got to be very specific about that stuff and it's not enough to just say we have crazy technical performance we have crazy detail retrieval and all this. Yes it's nice when IEMs are good at technical you know performance and detail retrieval all this stuff but you know I can count easily on both hands IEMs that are in the thousand dollar plus range that the Moondrop Starfield at $110 sounds better than. Really I think if you're going to spend under $200 on an IEM or under under $150 on an IEM the Moondrop Starfield should probably be somewhere near the top of that list for stuff to look into. I think the other things to consider would be you know again the Tin Hi-Fi T4 or you can start getting into some of the etymotic stuff which again there's a lot of people who swear by those I'm not a huge fan because I don't really like the fit of those and that's again where the Moondrop Starfield comes into play where it nails the fit and the comfort and being able to wear this for long periods of time so based on my rating scale which is a weighted score that takes my criteria into consideration or the things that are important to me you may have different ones and it also takes price into consideration at $110 this gets an 8

Moondrop Starfield Review - Best budget in-ear headphones?

* The mids have a warm tilt to them thanks to having less upper mids gain than other popular IEMs and some lower mids elevation. It sounds very "right" to me with excellent vocal tone devoid of harshness or sibilance.

I am torn between Moondrop Aria, and the Fiio FH3. The Fiio is a bit expensive, but I have read on this sub, a few times, that the FH3 has better resolution and quality overall. Can someone comment?

MoonDrop Aria (2021) Review: An $80 Masterclass in Audio Accessibility

  Consider what you’re looking for in an audio product. If it’s to hear sound, these will certainly do it. If you’re a bass head you probably won’t mind the sound profile. If you’re looking to hear the full range of detail in music, movies, or games I would suggest finding an IEM that is tuned more evenly

I ordered the Moondrop starfields after hearing raving reviews for Moondrop’s lineup of IEM’s. The sole reason I bought the product was for use gaming. I primarily play FPS games, and in this genre I mainly play Tarkov. For my style of gameplay I prefer sound to be clear, crisp, directional, and realistic

 The tuning was simply not what I was looking for. The mid range is extremely thin, and the low range is extremely overpowering. This can sometimes make sounds and music feel muffled, as everything is being overpowered by the bass (clarity issue I spoke about earlier on). Direction seemed to be a problem as well, right can obviously be told from left but trying to deduce anything finer than that is a bit of a struggle

Clarity is there, but not as balanced as I hope; maybe not the best for gaming.

 And I'm interested to see how this thing sounds, so let's go ahead and open it up. We'll find out what we get inside the box of the Starfield and then I'll spend some time living with this IEM and comparing it to some others in the price range and I'll let you know what I think. Alright, guys. Alright, so I've been listening to the Moondrop Starfield for about a week now and comparing these things to some other IEMs in this price range as a reminder, the Starfield costs around $110 and really just trying to figure out is this an IEM that I love and is it an IEM that you can love? And I'm actually going to start with a little bit of a disclaimer

 I don't quite love it, but I do quite like it. It's a fairly relaxed sound signature, but it's still engaging. It's got that contrast in the bass and the upper mids without ever, I don't know, it doesn't ever feel like it crosses the line into ridiculousness like some other IEMs. I think this is sort of a tasteful version of what TFZ tends to do, a tasteful version of what KZ tries to do, and frankly, in this price range at around $100, $110, I can't see myself ever recommending a TFZ or a KZ, at least not the ones that I've heard, over something like the Starfield, but for my preferences, I'd still go with the Tin Hi-Fi T4

 It's a little bit warmer of a sound signature, whereas this is slightly darker. So out of five stars, I'm going to go ahead and give the Moondrop Starfield a solid four stars. I think this is a nice sounding IEM, and again, I think this is a sound signature that pretty much no one is going to hate. I don't know that you're going to love it

Moondrop Starfield Super Review - vs. Tin T4 and BLON

Moondrop Starfield – These are slightly darker than neutral but sound amazing because of this. TBH, the blue on these are what sold me, and boy do they look good. Their looks surpass even 1000-dollar IEM’s since this kind of fancy blue is rarely seen on iem’s. I hope they get rid of the transparent totl iem trend and give us something similar to these

 So I'm pretty happy with the audio. I have not yet had the chance to listen them for hours at a time, but I don't anticipate they'll be tiring or harsh in any way. The BLON BL-03s are a little more bassy and warm, but not as wide open and detailed, so I think they would complement each other well.  The 3 stars is because the cable, L/R and tip selection issue but mainly because they arrived "cosmetically" damaged

 Nothing is bloated or too bright, it's neutral but way more musical than the T3 with good mids and very present bass. Mids maybe are a little recessed but that's understood with this U shaped tuning. So I'm pretty happy with the audio. I have not yet had the chance to listen them for hours at a time, but I don't anticipate they'll be tiring or harsh in any way

  The cable is kind of thin and tangly but thankfully no microphonics. Overall the audio is great, it's warm but not overly so.  At this price point, you expect a couple foam tips but all they had were silicon. I ended up trying the Comply Comfort+ first but got better isolation with the Isolation+ tips, and that allowed the music to really come alive. Great sound but arrived cosmetically damaged

 It does terminate to a 90 degree right angle 3.5 millimeter on the other end and the overall cable quality is decent but not great. The braiding is a little bit loose but it does fold up nicely and it doesn't get tangled very easily. Now for sound quality this is a very easy going IEM

 Now the treble response does have a little bit of sparkle and a decent bit of resolution but it certainly isn't standing out or jumping out to me as being kind of a standout feature for the frequency response. I think that's more reserved for the upper ranges of bass and throughout the mid-range but for treble response I think if you're seeking a very active very technical very precise treble this isn't going to be it. Now while this does fall into the more easy listening category I don't think that the sound signature is so dark that it's muffled but it's also not on the other end super open and airy sounding like some other IEMs can be and it's also definitely not a sharp sound signature. So it's a softer approach but without being muddy I would say

 It avoids some of the known pitfalls of most IEMs in this price category. While not providing the most technical performance in some areas I think the overall sound signature is going to be quite pleasing quite enjoyable and definitely fitting into that more easy listening category. Now the treble response does have a little bit of sparkle and a decent bit of resolution but it certainly isn't standing out or jumping out to me as being kind of a standout feature for the frequency response. I think that's more reserved for the upper ranges of bass and throughout the mid-range but for treble response I think if you're seeking a very active very technical very precise treble this isn't going to be it

 You get a fairly even spread and it doesn't just jump from left to right. You actually get a fair bit of evenness between all of you know the kind of different degrees of attack for an instrument. It's quite nice. Okay so my conclusion

Moondrop Starfield is one of the best IEMS for the money!

 And speaking of the cable, that is one of the worst-feeling cables I have ever used. I absolutely couldn’t stand it.  I’m afraid I didn’t give the sound a fair chance. The little I remember suggests a very good sound stage with decent overall sound
