THE COLORS ARE A LIE!!!!!......BUT ITS STILL A MORA!!

This is my first Scandi grind knife . At this price everybody should buy one to try out before you would invest your money in a much more expensive Scandi grind knife. It seems that a lot of the bush craft blogs go crazy over this type of grind and how easy it is to re-sharpened. In order to sharpen you have to hold the knife on a bench stone in order to get the correct angle and holding that angle as you approach the tip of the blade is nearly impossible

Awesome knife, terrible sheath

 Nothing that some athletic grip tape wont take care of though (or a paracord handle wrap if you're crafty).  Overall: A pretty decent knife for your pack, that wont break the bank. I certainly recommend it, just know the knife's limitations.

 No stars removed for the sheath.  This is not an end all, be all survival knife. I would not advise you to baton wood with it (despite what the YT Videos may say) unless it's very small kindling/tinder. Use this knife to make feather sticks, not chop down a tree

 I love that they have a finger guard, but also adding in some of the rubber material that the Companion has would be ideal! It doesn't even have to be a large amount, but something to grip to while using it is almost a must. The way it comes it gets fairly slippery when using when wet or when sweating. A Smaller Version of a Familiar Friend

A tough durable sharp as a razor right out of the box knife! Mora has always put out a quality knife for a decent price. I have used them for over 45 years and you won't find a better knife for the price than a Mora. The Scandi grind on the blade as it is called now is wonderful and about as perfect angle as you could ask for. I own a dozen or so and added this one to the collection

 Handle is a slight improvement over the older model, but they shortened the blade! WTF? That ruined it for me! Dont make sense at all! I need that extra 1/4" on the blade when in the field! When you use something for so many years, it is difficult to start over again with a different design! Cannot under stand the concept of why they shortened the blade, and why that makes the new 511 a better choice! It does have a better sheath, but that's all. I will go back to the older 511 and order a few more while they are still around! Since the sheath is kinda crappy on the older 511 I use it as a neck knife and don't have any problems. Hope they don't do that to the 510 which is another favorite in the field and along the trails! '

Good knife.

 Reasons: first it was not very sharp out of the box, the blade seemed to have no burr when running thumb across it. My other Mora's always were shave the hair off your arm out of the box. It didn't take to much with my stone to get a decent edge. It'll need more to get it to razor sharp

 I'll try to get a good pic to attach but Ive already started smoothing it off with a file and stone. Not a huge thing to me as I plan to use this and the worst area is right about where I'd likely use it to strike a fero rod. But if you're expecring pristine blade these may not be it.

Once its done it should pop in nice and firm with a loud positive click! If that don't work try boiling it longer, sometimes it can take about 5 minutes to soften up the plastics.

A classic Mora with a nice updated handle design, can't beat the price and its 1095 carbon steel.

I was looking for a small, fixed blade knife for my son to carry and use on our hikes/campouts. He's only 8 years old, so I wasn't going to spend a lot of dough on a knife, only to have him lose it or goon it up. At $10, the Morakniv was perfect. Reasonably good quality knife with an OK handle

 The plastic sheath kinda sucks though. It's a friction fit system with no sort of snap or strap to secure the knife. It seems to work OK, but I have to think it will wear put sooner than I'd like. However, for our purposes, it's fine
