 Carbon blades are tough but easy to sharpen with the only downside being that they rust much easier than stainless so there is some maintenance needed. As you can see the blade on mine has taken on a dark, almost black patina from skinning game which is actually a good thing and helps keep the bad rust from forming. I just wash this knife after use and apply a light coat of mineral oil. What I really love about this knife is the way the sheath clips onto the button of my hunting overalls

A true Companion

 This drew me to the Morakniv I chose. I decided to give it a try. Well, it's a wonderful knife. I have no regrets

Excellent all purpose sheath knife

 I take into account the type of steel on my knives and the properties of that steel, so when I was getting a Carbon steel knife, I expected some rusting/corrosion through use. However, upon the first few of uses peeling an apple, I noticed the discoloration and patina started to form on the steel. There was also a strong odor that emanated from the knife, so I regarded it as a smell from the manufacturing process. I washed, dried and oiled the steel after each use to minimize the corrosion/rust, but every time I used it for apples, the smell would return (metallic smell produced from grinding steel)

 The apple’s acids would oxidize the blade and generate the metallic odor, along with creating the patina on the blade. My advice would be if purchasing this knife, avoid using it on acidic food. The steel used is highly susceptible to corrosion compared to the other knives I previously used, therefore you should avoid getting it soaked in water for long periods and should be promptly dried after washing. Don’t expect too much from this knife, and use it on anything but processing food

 I am going to see if I can modify my belt to allow the sheath to be more secure. For the price, good knife for general use. And I would buy another if I can modify the sheath.

Got this for general use knife. I prefer fixed blades over folders. Good blade length for general use and not too long to carry on a belt. But, I prefer more of a drop point blade but non the less, it works

Thought the blade would be sharper from the factory though, not that it isn't sharp but some other knives I bought were sharper new. I have not sharpened the blade yet so not sure how it take an edge wanting to use it a lot first to see the edge holds

Quality for the price

 If you are going to buy a carbon steel knife have a bottle of apple cider vinegar on hand before the knife arrives. When it does arrive, heat up some ACV in a pot, clean the blade thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, put the knife in a glass (point down), pour the hot ACV in the glass until the blade is completely submerged. Wait about 45 minutes to an hour and remove the knife, wash off the blade, and wipe it down with your choice of oil (food grade or industrial). With this patina on the knife and oiling of the blade you should not have any trouble with rust

 It's so so light. Some bushcraft or survival knives can be so heavy that they want to drag your pants down by the belt but you wouldn't even feel this little cloud. It doesn't even look like a bushcraft knife. It looks like a cheap steak knife from your kitchen

  The blade is sharp enough as is but can be custom sharpened to remove the bevel and become super sharp! The flat top of the blade has a rolled or deburred edge which I think conflicts with the intent of use (as a magnesium scraping tool) but I haven't personally tested this yet.  The tang is reportedly 3/4 of the handle length. I think this should be effective for most of my intended uses.  The sheath is simple plastic and seems to work well

Great knife for backpacking

 I am waiting for Amazon to fix this issue and correct their website!!! Amazon guys, you need to check all Mokarniv's SKUs (colors, materials). Point #2: Handle ergonomics is good and feels comfortable but the material is feels cheap for the knife made in Sweden (at least, that is what it says on the blade). Point #3: The blade is thin and feels cheap too but it is ok for the price. Point #4: It came very sharp

A few points related to Morakniv Companion knives and thier versions

 The sheath is not reversible, and the belt/pocked attachment is not flexible.  To be honest, this was a bit difficult to operate even for my right-handed self. I have owned a couple other Mora Knivs and did not have this issue.  It might be great of you're worried about dropping it, but I've seen better solutions

 No expensive fluff that you feel compelled to store. Every penny went into the knife. IMHO, a smart choice. The unspoken message, this knife is about intelligent utility, not fluff

Just got this in the mail today and am very happy with my purchase.  Lets start with the initial presentation. The knife was modestly presented in a small plastic bag. No hang tags, no brochure, no manual, no red velvet lined box, a box in another box or micro fiber bag
