Sorry bro. Edit: Mossberg Maverick 88s are like under $200 and are sooooo much better than these dude. You could have gotten a Mossberg 590 for what you paid for this and your great grandchildren would have a functional shotgun eventually.

Depending again on what you're prepping for, a pump 12 gauge (Remmington 870 is my go to, Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 if you're cash strapped) will frighten off a crowd (with birdshot), knock down a home intruder (buck or slugs), or take down turkey (turkey loads), small game from squirrels to pheasants (birdshot) to big game such as moose, deer, coyotes, elk and on (buck or slugs). Concealability aside, a shotgun is your best friend. Buy a variety of ammunition for different game or scenarios.

I also removed all the accessories on my Maverick 88 and I'm appreciating the barebone look of the shotgun, but I damaged some of the finish trying to remove the adhesive from the shotgun cards I had on it. Currently have a Birchwood Casey aluminum black pen sitting in my Amazon shopping cart for when I make my next purchase on Amazon. Unless I find one in store at an LGS.

I did a big oof and bought a shitty side saddle for my Maverick 88 over a year ago, it's a stiff rubbery side saddle that I have to fight to draw my shells out of, and I realize I was a fool for not getting a velcro bad nylon elastic side saddle instead. So tonight I have consumed a can of Mr. Brown coffee like a good Taiwanese boi and I shall search my bin of spare parts to see if I can locate the old Mossberg screw that went in place where the side saddle is mounted. Been spending a lot of money on Butternut lately, but that's just the cost of getting set up.

Grabbed a Magpul RLS on the way and hooked it up to my Maverick 88. Gotta say, this revolver is beefier than I thought it’d be, but still a lot more slim than the Pythons and 686s I’ve fondled. The frustrating thing though is that I have barely a box of .357 JHP, and that's all the .357 ammo I have.
