 Yeah, of course, some just won't run out here and others will nobly try and then fail. But doing a speed test on your cover display is a party trick you try once. Answering a telegram or a tweet with a quick reply, that's something I've been doing a few times an hour every day. Now this is crucial because people often ask me if I get annoyed by how often I need to open a clamshell foldable to use it

 The same half hour on the Razr only got me to 40%. And you will be charging more often. The new Razr lasts longer than the first one, about 14 to 15 hours on a moderate workday. But crank that up to heavy with an afternoon of mobile hotspot and you're down to 12 hours

 It's accurately captured my girlfriend's cat's default mood. And I wouldn't have made it my date to this backyard, socially distanced wedding if I didn't trust it. It's a competent camera with some fun toys like spot color for sassing up your socials, which now works in video mode as well. And even when I brought in the Z Flip for a side-by-side, the RAZR hung in there enough to go punch for punch, matching or outpacing the Samsung often enough that as you can probably hear, I needed to rerecord this segment of the VO because of how surprised I was at frankly how well the Moto did

 The RAZR's gotten a big upgrade on its optics. With the new 48 megapixel camera outputting at 12 megapixels, you get more dramatic natural bokeh when you really wanna do justice to that breakfast sandwich. And with optical stabilization, it's easier to keep the river traffic in the frame. The viewfinder has been cleaned up and sped up now with artificial horizon

It’s a tired trope of the tech world to say that “the sequel is what version one should have been.” But in the case of one of the most famous brands in mobile phone history, you can’t help but wonder what might have happened if last year’s Motorola Razr … had been the Motorola Razr 2020 instead. 

In last week’s Motorola Razr 2020 Hands-On I took you through the differences between the Razr 5G and its 2019 predecessor, so you already know that the spec sheet upgrades and hardware tweaks Motorola made to modernize this model … well, they worked. What do I need to be able to flip phones?

. well, you get a camera. It isn't potato-cam bad. It's good enough that Surface Duo owners would be rightfully jealous

I could get by with it, and if I had to choose between Samsung's beautify filters that can't be turned off and a comparatively low-res RAZR photo that looks normal (if a bit grainy), I'd probably go the RAZR route

But for as good as that 5G/4G management is, Motorola (er... Lenovo, since it's really Lenovo now?) chose not to bake that intelligence into the wi-fi management

 it wasn't until the iPhone that I abandoned poor Motorola. So, seeing an Android resurrection that not only looked like a RAZR but also had 5G was something I couldn't pass up. Especially after parting with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, because I was sick of needing to adjust my pocket every time I got in to my car.

Supremely pocketable, with lots of other tradeoffs.

 For those folding phones that have a clamshell build, I like classifying it into two parts, the outer shell and the inner screen. The outer shell of the phone is carved out of aluminium with a fingerprint scanner embedded into the Motorola logo. It's a bit of an unnatural position for your finger to touch, but you do get used to it with time. As far as accuracy goes, the sensor works pretty well for the most part

 Enter the Moto Razr 2020 5G. This is a second generation product in the same year as the first generation product of a revival of a 16 year old product. Confusing, right? As the follow up of the first folding phone from Motorola, the current Razr has added 5G connectivity to its arsenal as well as all around refinement of an otherwise surprisingly well built product. I didn't have the first generation phone, so I was actually very surprised that this phone feels pretty nice in the hand

 This is something Motorola really needs to direct their attention to. It's vital that a modern flip phone has the same functionality that made the original flip phone so useful, flipping it and closing it to answer and close a call. That quick flip to answer a phone call and flip to end a call is essential to the experience. While you can answer and end a call by using those actions, they aren't as polished as they need to be

 Let's actually dive into this right now as this is something that does make this phone quite unique. No other phone does it like this phone does. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Flip, the Razr actually gives you a fully functional display that works with applications. It's not a ticker bar that lags along for basic notifications like that said Samsung phone

One thing I noticed as a former Razr 5G owner - 

The Razr will flip open with a spring, the Flip hinge feels less springy and more stiff and less satisfying/easy to just one handed flick open. I dunno, maybe it's just me or the Flip unit I handled.

The outside screen I definitely agree on. It's the whole reason I bought the Razr over the older Flip. It's definitely better this time around but still I think Moto had the better implementation.

Plus the teardrop fold mechanism on the Razr left a WAY less noticeable crease.

I think in the end Samsung built a better phone spec wise, and better to use when opened but I think Moto did several "flip phone" things better.

I ultimately returned the Razr 5G because the camera wasn't very good and neither was the battery. But that phone definitely had a charm the flip doesn't! That's a subjective opinion of course though. I just thought the Razr felt like an awesome reimagining of an old style phone while Samsung took a standard smartphone and bent it in two. I'm not saying one or the other is a better way to do it - but Moto had more character is all.

Now waiting to receive my Fold 3 and try Android and foldables once more.

I feel that the Moto razor would have sold more units but due to advertising and covid issue it was overshadowed by Samsung because they have more play in the market

I will admit after using this device for more than 6 months most of the issues that I've had with it is just software sometimes a little glitch here and there other than that the performance has been fairly solid for what appears to be a mid-range phone

I would take the Moto over the z flip because it feels more like a solid real flip phone and not an experiment but if I want a Samsung device in a flip form factor then I will take a look at the z flip

Or just get the fold (which I have to that is f****** awesome)

<div class="md"><p>So my new flip got delivered last night and I&#39;ve been messing with it for a few hours now. </p>

<p>Overall it seems like a good upgrade over the RAZR 5G, it feels more solidly built, especially the screen. Overall the build quality is probably the biggest improvement. </p>

<p>My biggest nitpick is with the notifications on the cover screen. They don&#39;t seem to be interactive outside just dismissing them. On the RAZR 5G I would get 2FA notifications that I could accept directly on the cover screen, as far as I can tell I can&#39;t do that on the Flip. I can see the notification but I can&#39;t accept the request without opening the phone. There is definitely room on the cover screen so hopefully that&#39;s something they fix. </p>

<p>Also in general I would like to see more customization and better app support with the cover screen</p>

 is a mix of hype, hope and whatever the opposite of harmony is, that doesn't mean that 5G networks won't grow and become more robust over time. But it's nice that the Razor has 5G. So even if you're not able to connect to a 5G network where you live right now, well, you might be able to do so eventually. Now, specifically, the Razor supports the sub-6 flavor of 5G, which currently can be found on AT&T and T-Mobile in the U

 Now, Motorola said they place multiple 5G antennas in both ends of the phone. That way, whether the phone is open or you're using the phone closed, you should always have the best 5G connection possible. Now, while the current state of 5G in the U.S

 You can get an unlocked version and use it on the likes of AT&T and T-Mobile. Better yet, this little guy has support for 5G. Now, Motorola said they place multiple 5G antennas in both ends of the phone. That way, whether the phone is open or you're using the phone closed, you should always have the best 5G connection possible

 The nostalgic Razr chin is more tapered and sleek. This new design has a hint of Motorola StarTac essence. The back is no longer plastic, but glass, which looks premium in the polished granite version I got my hands on. And speaking of that, when I pick up the new Razr, it feels solid

First, yes, there was a Motorola Razr released in February. But now there's a brand-new version that aims to solve some problems and some nitpicks people had about that phone. The new 5G Razr has a Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage (and of course, support for 5G). The phone is now made of aluminum and glass. Perhaps the biggest improvement is that the Razr is no longer an exclusive on Verizon -- meaning you'll be able to buy one unlocked that will work on AT&T or T-Mobile and those carriers' sub-6 version of 5G. The new Motorola Razr will be out this fall for $1,400.

Personally, my benchmark for a small phone is, if I were to end up in a freak accident and get one of my arms sliced off, it wouldn't hinder me from using my phone. I think the old Xperia Compacts and the iPhone 12 Mini are as big as you can get for that.

I have a Unihertz Jelly 2, I have small hands (like, "buying children's gloves because women's gloves are too big" small) and it's great for me. It runs Dragalia Lost as well as any of my other devices (better than my iPad lol) and the battery life seems completely fine? I'm not a power user but I really don't feel like I'm compromising, which is pretty incredible considering the phone is inexpensive.

i have an iphone se (2016) for work and personally i absolutely despise it, not just because i dont like ios but it is also just far too small for me as my last 3 personal phones have been the plus versions of the galaxy s series. i think there are a lot of people out there who would like the idea of  a smaller phone but when it comes to actually using it for typing

My last small phone was Pixel 2. Pocketable size was important for me because I travelled a lot before the pandemic. I don’t think we value small phone as much as we would before the pandemic because we stay at home most of the time.
