I Can't complain about this monitor. It's very for the price that I got it. for the budget that I got it

Dark colors just smear around which can be a problem if you like dark themes. IPS panels are also faster overall for gaming. Also G24C is curved which you may or may not like.

I've had the MSI Optix you listed in your original post since April and it's amazing. My wife actually got it for me as a birthday present, lol. Best gift ever. Note: I hear that not all ASUS monitors are compatible with Freesync (G-Sync only) so IF he has an AMD graphics card you may want to look reeeeaaally hard before getting any ASUS monitors.

If you’re looking at MSI, the MSI optix G24c checks all the boxes (VA panel). The view sonic xg2405 is an excellent choice also (IPS panel). The acer xfa240 is great choice for gaming, but has a TA panel so could not be as great for color accuracy or viewing angles.
