Never thought I would be bent over at 4:30am massaging sled dog balm gently and intently into each paw pad, but 100% worth it

For me, we got a beagle puppy three weeks ago, and adjusting has been a CHALLENGE. She's an angel in some regards, but she hasn't nailed potty training and still makes no effort not to pee in the house, cries if we walk out of her sight, and bites like a muthafukka. She hates going in her crate during the day, but does exceptionally well at night. 

I work from home, and can't get anything done when she is awake. As such, undisturbed naps are a must if I have any amount of work to do. A couple days ago, she was sleeping in a bed next to my desk and getting her to settle had been a nightmare. I was damned determined not to wake her, but I had to pee like a racehorse (must be all of the coffee). There's a bathroom next to my desk, but the act of standing always seems to wake her up, and if she can't see me, she will come running to find me. 

After holding it for what felt like hours, I was losing the battle. I was still determined not to wake her, so I started looking for...options. That's when I noticed my favorite coffee mug, sitting empty on my desk. You know what they say, any port in a storm. The worst part; I fouled my coffee mug for no reason. She woke up anyway. And that's why I have an empty gallon jug under my desk. 

Tldr; I peed in my favorite coffee mug, and in the process woke up my puppy.

Does not help with traction

Make sure you're waxing your Aussie's paws once a week or so. Musher's Secret is a great product. Keeps their paws from cracking/splitting. Once your dog's paws get more furry they'll hold snow, increasing the possibility

I have two options, neither of which she likes.

1) carry her to grass, she’s small

2) put shoes on her, risk getting bit, and try to get her used to shoes

Which is my best option? I don’t want her burning her feet

The human likes it and notices good results on the pup but the pup does not like the scent and resists getting it applied. He does give in over time. The scent is not strong so I think it’s just a my dog thing.
