MXL 770

I'd rather have the MXL 770, AT 2020, or other condensers over the yeti for a myriad of reasons. A one channel interface, an XLR cable, and an SM48 or MXL 770 are cheaper / the same price and will get you better results and a mic more suited for more environments.

this will give you astounding quality for under 100$, and it's very portable as well. i still use this combo on drop rigs and it's always in my backpack. obvs it can't really be compared to more prosumer recorders like the mixpre series etc, but these things cost 10x more without mics. the mxl 770 might not be ideal for field recording, since instrument mics are usually made for louder sounds, but i'm not sure about that.

I hated the sound but it's built nice and the built in pop filter is neat. MXL 770 needs an interface but sounds = to the yeti. Samson C01U was my original mic I loved the most. I really am debating on getting another one just to test it against the Yeti nano because it was my OG mic from 2014 that I used for years until Win10 drivers ruined it making it unusable.

If you have a treated room the MXL 770 is a good choice and I spent $40 on mine on sale. The SM7B is always good and I use a "vintage" FET to color it a bit more, but this brings the price to like $500-ish before tax. If you have a treated room and cash to spare I can not recommend the LCT series enough. I have the 640 and it's great.
