It'll even work on vocals or you could use it on drums for instance. So actually this works great as a studio outboard device as well if you want to patch it into your studio

 The NEW models have FAR too high midrange and the components are no longer easily modified. I thought I was replacing an old model with the NEW one, but alas the NEW is not worthy of a place in my effects chain!  I will probably get an EH Small stone now, though that pedal looks like it may have been changed lately too. Sadly it appears boutiques are being bought by non-musical business men who care ONLY about the bottom line and NOT enough, if AT ALL about the sound/quality of their products. The capitalists have become too greedy, and the socialists think they are worthy to tell everyone else how to live

  I read up on the MXR Phase 90, listened to several YouTube videos and decided it would serve my needs for less than half the price of the Aguilar unit, and after receiving it, it DOES sound very nice. I can get the phaser sound I'm looking for and when I added the octave pedal, it was truly an awesome tone.  HOWEVER.

 I first bought an Aguilar Octamizer octave pedal and it was marvelous, but very expensive. I wanted to add a phaser pedal to get that O'Jays "For the Love of Money" sound, but wanted to avoid spending $200 for an Aguilar phaser unit.  I read up on the MXR Phase 90, listened to several YouTube videos and decided it would serve my needs for less than half the price of the Aguilar unit, and after receiving it, it DOES sound very nice. I can get the phaser sound I'm looking for and when I added the octave pedal, it was truly an awesome tone

 Why the manufacturer didn't put the power input at the top of the unit as the majority of all pedals generally are is beyond me.  Thus, I am returning this pedal and just going to bite the bullet and purchase an Aguilar Grape Phaser. That pedal's charging port is at the top , along with its input and output jacks and frankly produces a much better tone than the Phase 90. Sometimes it's better to spend more money for better quality and more intelligent design

Perhaps the thought of losing all your power on your pedalboard during a performance doesn't bother you, but it's something I can't tolerate
