Coulee 25 & 40 | 3 Zip Hiking & Lightweight Backpacking Bags | MYSTERY RANCH

I’m looking for a daypack to take on hikes. Generally I carry a puffy or a wind shell, snacks, water, trekking poles, a journal, extra socks, headlamp, paper map, maybe a few extras depending on the day... Most of the hikes I do are in the 15-30 mile range.

I’ve been looking at the Osprey Talon/Talon Pro and the Black Diamond Distance 15. Does anyone have experience with either of these packs?

Daypack for the new season

Bought it last month took it on first hike. It fit well just wished had more internal pockets and the zippers get hung up. Little small in the main body barely holds two T-shirt and a rain jacket plus food. Just need a little more time with it

 so when you zip it up right when you zip it up, there's only a small exposure. Very small exposure here where you could still get you know, debris coming into the bag, but otherwise you know it's a really well built bag. The construction is really solid, really durable. It's going to serve many, many years of use and abuse

 These are Ykk zippers, quite substantial and the zipper does have a poly seam here. You know, I don't think it's going to be fully waterproof, but it does provide some protection. so when you zip it up right when you zip it up, there's only a small exposure. Wanted some help with finding a bag to become my dad backpack. Essential criteria are multiple access to main compartment, external bottle pouch, 21-29L size to accomodate a toddler and an infant.

Wandrd Prvke really fits the criteria but is so expensive. I am from down under so we dont have access to a few brands like Tom Bihn. At the moment I am using a copied PD 20L backpack by the name of Orbis, just to try before thinking of committing to the real thing. It is very uncomfortable on long walks though but I love the mulltiple access points and organisation.

Recommendations for dadpack

 The bag sheds water pretty well we got caught in a few rain showers and the water never soaked into the bag and just beaded up and ran off. My only complaint, and the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, is that there isn’t any internal storage options or even an option to add internal storage. I wish that it had either some zippered pockets on the inside that stored out of the way when not in use or some internal molle or some kind of attachment points on the back and sides so that you could add pouches if you wanted to. I had a med kick and another pouch with batteries and a few other items in it and it would have been nice to mount those up higher in the bag to easily find when needed

I’m a 6’4” big guy looking to buy a daypack with a hydration bladder (or option to use one within it). I haven’t found one that fits a really tall guy yet. I don’t need anything fancy. Would like to just be able to carry a hydration bladder, snacks/meals for the day, and some basic gear.

Any suggestions are most appreciated, thanks!

<p>For basic gear, I mean an extra layer (puff jacket, gloves, rain jacket, etc), 1st aid kit, headlamp, dog gear, etc.. So I guess I meant a basic day pack, not needing sleeping gear. Definitely interested in a daypack with a hip belt.</p>

Suggestions for hydration daypack for 6’4” guy.

And not sure if MR reads this but if so. Come on guys. Drop a key fob in there, huh? You can use a biner in the main compartment but it seems like a pretty basic feature for a pack of this quality.

I've been hiking and backpacking for quite a while and have the packs to show for it. For me, the Coulee is the most comfortable and durable day pack I've ever owned. I've only had mine for about a year but I've beat it up since day one and have never felt the need to be gentle with the zippers or material. It's the difference between the 330D of the Coulee and the roughly 100D of something like the Osprey Talon

 I think it makes more sense for a bigger pack. And I'm not so sure about the very reduced size of the front pocket. Can't really handle a wet jacket. But man

I was so happy with my Coulee 25 I got for 40% off, I decided to upgrade my larger pack and get it's bigger brother, the terraframe 50. Wasn't easy to drop almost $500 on a pack but honestly at the end of the day I'd say it's worth it. Big ups to mystery ranch.

 They could be larger.. I'd valso like to see the base pack material a higher grade. Again
