 This one's only $37. If they could do some kind of a software or firmware update on this thing to make sure the power factor correction was on in all the different modes, it's maybe become a real winner of a device for overall, especially considering the lower cost point that this 100W adapter comes in at. So if you're looking for a power adapter, this Nectec adapter is not too bad. So that's the Nectec device

 Sometimes this device is not power factor corrected. So we're getting the disadvantages at the lower end of having a power factor correction circuit in there, and we're getting the advantage of the power factor correction on the high end, but then in the middle you get terrible power quality. I am not sure why you would ever do that in a power adapter. So this device is kind of in the middle where it has some win characteristics and some lose characteristics

 We end up with a mixed bag on this device. It does end up some reasonable power quality numbers on the higher end, and its idle condition isn't terrible. It's got reasonably low idle power consumption, the THD is low on those low power and idle conditions, so overall it's not too bad. It does have that high VA in, so it is moving current around even though it's doing nothing

 Check it out. So we do get a little blue LED that glows on there, lets you know it's on. It's not very bright, but it's just enough to let you know that it's on, which is nice. One of the things we got extra with this one is we got a little Nectec branded cable

Good but...

It certainly does what it says on the tin, but I can’t keep it permanently plugged into my laptop (recent 16 inch MacBook Pro) because it causes the screen and the external monitor to wake up randomly for a few seconds every 15 minutes or so.  Also, it won’t let my laptop stay shut down when it’s plugged in. I hit shut down and it wakes right back up when this power adapter is plugged in.

  Here's how it shakes out specifically for the 2020 ROG Zephyrus G14: Fantastic form factor. Great for travel. Can be used as a replacement for your workstation. BUT, the wattage pulled from this laptop while gaming at max performance is about equal to what this charger gives out

  Update: After talking with others who purchased it on Reddit, they confirmed with their own killawatt meters that theirs did in fact pull 100w. So mine seems to be a little defective. The good news is NekTeck offered an easy replacement charger, despite definitely being looooong past my standard return period, so if it doesn't work out, I can say they will absolutely take care of you.

Not quite 100w in my case.
