 Morning. Another comfortable night in my sleeping bag here from Nemo. This is the Disco, it's a 15 degree bag that, actually let me get some lights on here, alright, that better? Morning. So this is the Disco Nemo sleeping bag, it's a 15 degree bag that I use in these fringe months when it's cooler

 The nicest thing about, and why I've chose Nemo over the last few years, I have a warmer bag, or I'm sorry, a cooler bag that I use in the summer. But the thing that keeps me coming back are the spoon shape, and it might be kind of hard to see in this camera angle, but it affords a lot more room along where your knees are and up by your shoulders, so you don't get that same cocoon feeling that you do in a conventional mummy bag. And I'm a side sleeper, and I think the majority of people are, so this allows you to kind of roll back and forth and stay comfortable and not always feel so confined. A couple other nice features, this, I'm not sure what they call it here, blanket fold

 Another nice thing that NEMO does is they use responsibly sourced down, and they use a Nikwax, I'm reading it right on the side here, Nikwax hydrophobic down. So in this breathable foot box, as well as the rest of the bag, you've got a down that's been responsibly sourced and also hydrophobic, which is good, if you're in a damp or wet environment or somehow your bag does get wet, the down won't clump together like a conventional untreated down will. So that's my quick take on the NEMO Disco sleeping bag, I've had a couple of sleeping bags from them over the years and they've held up fantastic, I really like it, and again the key feature that's available in these bags that you don't see in other bags is the spoon shape, and for a guy like me, my size, I'm 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, and I like to sleep on my side on a conventional money bag and you've got to cut it, so this is the stuff right here, the bee's knees, so with that I'm going to catch a couple of extra minutes of sleep before sunrise, back in my cocoon. Good night

There's like a little extra piece of material right here that when you're zipped up in this, you can either fold it inside the bag and it'll kind of create a seal around your body, keeping the, trapping the heat inside the bag, or you can kind of flip it out when you need to ventilate. And speaking of ventilation, these gills right here can help regulate the temperature inside the bag without actually having to open the side zip and let out a bunch of air

A backcountry review of the Nemo Disco  15 degree sleeping bag.

I knew this would be an issue but I genuinely thought it wouldn't be as much an issue as it was. 

I can't sleep on my back, I have an eye thing that means I try to avoid looking up as best I can (rip star gazing) and so I sleep on my sides and chest. 

I was worried that I'd have trouble sleeping on my side in a mummy sleeping bag due to space, I wasn't worried about the quality of sleep.

Finally, *finally* went camping this past weekend, and I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I don't think it was all due to discomfort but it definitely played a part.

So, my question for value of purchase - what would do me the best to improve quality of sleep for sleeping on my sides (where my arm is incredibly unfortable) or chest (where my chest felt a little too compressed)?

I have a self inflating pad but it clearly didn't create a soft enough space, and I'm not expecting to get bed quality comfort. But all I can think of for now is getting one of those egg carton pads or just a second actual pad (or maybe thicker/higher quality one) but I don't want to invest without doing a little research, which this is a part of.

I appreciate it. I really want to continue camping, and I don't want this to ruin it for me. If I go car camping again I'll probably just bring an army supply of blankets but I can't always count on that.

How to make sleeping more comfortable?

You don't have to sleep like King Tut!

 So right under your chin, you can leave it out if you're too hot, but if you're cold, and especially if you're a moving around sleeper like I am, you tuck it inside, and as you move, it catches the air that's trying to escape and keeps your body heat inside the bag. This has proven epic for me in keeping me warm on very cold nights. I went with the 15 degree because I carry one bag all year. The reason I upgraded, I had its predecessor called the Nocturne, basically exactly the same sleeping bag, just didn't have this feature, and that is the Thermogales

 If you're a side sleeper, this is a must, it is a must for me. Can roll around in it, and it doesn't make you feel like a literal mummy. It also is a little wider at the shoulders, so you can turn, twist, etc. One more feature that makes this incredible and keep you warm is this little fold, it goes all the way down the zipper, doesn't let all the cold air out

 I liked the new features, plus I wanted to review it. I knew it was a good sleeping bag, so that is my take on it. The Nemo 15 degree sleeping bag disco is spoon shaped. What does that mean? Well, it's hard to tell right now, but down by the knees, it is wider

 Very handy feature. Some of these features I really thought were gimmicky, but they actually work how they're supposed to, and it amazed me how much more comfortable and warm I stayed once I got into the Nemo spoon sleeping bags. Also at the top, you have a spot for your phone, keep it warm, and it helps the battery not die when it's cold. So there you have it, that is the Nemo disco spoon shaped 15 degree down sleeping bag

I've been looking at sleeping bags for months now. It's overwhelming. The more I look, the less I know. I've found good deals on big Agnes bags, Rab bags, thermarest bags, and Nemo bags however I've no brand loyalty so not committed to these. I continue to get conflicting reviews when looking up a bag I like and it sends me spiraling deeper into the internet. 

What I'm ideally looking for:
Solid three season backpacking bag. 
Not UL, but something that won't big me down and make me wish I bought something lighter in two years time. Maybe ~2lbs
I've slept fine in mummy bags previously so that works for me. 
Price range around $300 

I just need help from a community that has spent time out there with their gear, being a newbie is overwhelming.
