 but I know people who have had this pad for years now and haven't had a problem with that. I've had the pad myself for almost eight months now and haven't had any problems and I've opened and closed this valve probably 100 to 200 times already. Sustainability and ethics is I think one of the most important topics when it comes to gear or any purchase that you're making and I've had some conversations with Nemo and I've been very interested in the ways that they're looking to improve the sustainability and ethical manufacturing of their products. First up, they audit their manufacturing processes and with that they look to make sure that their products are being made as sustainably as possible, as well as making sure that human rights are being maintained at their manufacturing plants

 There's a little rubber grommet at the end of the inflation bag here. You just stick that into the valve until it clicks in and then there's a narrow opening at the top and you just blow into that from about six inches away. Six inches to a foot away and it'll inflate the bag using the Bernoulli effect, so it creates a vortex that sucks air into the bag. that means you have to use less breath in order to get air into the bag and then inflate the pad

 But enough talking with an empty sleeping pad here. Let's use the inflation bag here and get it inflated. There's a little rubber grommet at the end of the inflation bag here. You just stick that into the valve until it clicks in and then there's a narrow opening at the top and you just blow into that from about six inches away

 So what you get with this sleeping pad is the stuff sack as well as an inflation bag that you can use. You get a little bit of a repair kit in here as well that just has some some patching materials. and then here is the inflation sack that you can use to blow up the pad and it works really, really well and we'll go over that a little bit here. All of this together weighs 615 grams, but the pad alone weighs 540 grams on my scale, which is the same as what Nemo advertises, which is really good

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to discuss the freaking taper I find in every darn tent I like but first I'll start off with my needs and how I came to figure them out.

I can't sleep on a narrow 20" pad even though I'm a small guy (5'7", 155lb) because I move my feet a lot and fall off the pad too easily so I have to completely wake up in order to roll over or move at all at night on a narrow. I'm a side sleeper, and previously tried the narrow Tensor and had awful sleep half a dozen times before giving up and springing for the Wide. Upgrading to the wide, I sleep as good while camping as at home.

So with that background, here's the problem I've run into since upgrading to the Wide - I can't find tents that fit my wide alongside my wife's narrow! Okay, there's definitely tents out there, like we recently got the Triplex and loved it but we got super cold in it so I'm needing a warmer shelter as we move into colder months.

I currently have a Nemo Dragonfly 2p and took it to Grayson a couple months back. We'd been using a double pad (Exped synmat HL Duo) but the problem was the mist and fog soaked the sides of our tent, even the inside. So, since the tent tapers at the feet, my sleeping bag pushed against the side of the tent and got soaked, which then made me very cold that night.

So that's when I decided to get the Tensor Wide and I love it and have slept on it a dozen nights. Problem is, my Wide and my wife's Narrow won't fit in the Dragonfly 2p. I've looked at similar 2p tents like the Copper Spur HV UL2 but it also tapers to like 41/42" which is too narrow for our pads. Additionally, it seems the best solution is to get 3p tents, but that comes with either a big increase in weight OR it's 2-3 season only.

All that said, has anyone else come across this same issue? What's the solution for a 45" width tent without a taper, without being much over the 2p weight, and ideally 4 season. I understand that 4 season = heavy, as I can't find a single 4 season that's under 4lb, and those I do find such as Slingfin Portal, taper so I can't fit my 25" pad next to my wife's 20".

Is anyone else annoyed at all the Ultralight tents that taper towards the feet? I just want to fit my 25" pad next to my wife's 20" pad but every 2p tent seems to be 50" tapering down to ~40"

So noisy I had to replace it!

 Or once it's installed, you can open up the top and you have a stopper so you can breathe into this stop and none of the air escapes. So I will go ahead begin inflating this and let's count together how many breaths it takes. I'm getting warm. This is going to take a while

 The valve is open, just the top layer and none of the air is escaping. The yellow side is the front, the gray side is the bottom. Before going any further in this episode, let's go over some stats concerning this pad. First off, there are numerous versions of this sleeping pad

 You can lay on this any way that you want to and you don't have to worry about feeling the ground underneath you. As soon as you lay down on this, you begin feeling your heat radiating back to you and that's thanks to the insulation that aluminum film on the inside. The only time that you will feel the ground is like say if you sit up and you have only the butt pushing into the earth, you will feel it then. But with your body on the pad you do not feel anything at all

 I'm getting warm. This is going to take a while. All right. So we're at 20 and I'm dizzy, so we're looking at 22 23 breaths depending on how firm you want this so you can see there

The Most Comfortable Sleeping Pad I Have EVER USED - Insulated Nemo Tensor Ultralight Sleeping Pad

I just picked up a Nemo Tensor for a steal at REI (on sale for $120 currently for the regular).

Looking for some creative ideas here, or possibly some products that I may not be aware of. Like the title says I am side sleeper, and all of the ultralight pads I've tried keep me up at night tossing and turning to combat what feels like knives being jammed into my hip joints. Foam pads are obviously a no-go, and the inflatable pads I've tried don't offer enough cushion to stop my hips from resting on the ground. 


Has anyone else solved this problem? I obviously can't be dragging a cot around with me. I'm open to any ideas at this point.

Side sleeper woes... Ultralight pads are killing my hips.

 You cant call them because they have a permanent voicemail system that automatically comes on and they never called back. It’s just ridiculous that you cannot back up your product better with this price tag. You will be better served by doing more investigating on sleeping pads and staying away from this one. Hi everyone. I’ve been learning so much from this sub! Y’all are great. 
I’ve been backpacking for a while now, but I absolutely cannot figure out how to sleep passably comfortably. I’m on my third or fourth pad now (klymit ultralight insulated v), and every time I try to sleep, without fail, my lower back ACHES and my shoulder/arms fall asleep (I’m a side sleeper), which makes me wake up and turn around until my other arm falls asleep, and repeat. I’ve tried partially deflating, over inflating, etc., and just cannot sleep through the night. I’ve even lugged around a bigger, thick pad (Nemo cosmo long, which I will sell you if you want, lol) and had the same problems. I used a little sit pad under my hips on my previous trip and that helped some, but didn’t solve the issue with my arms. 
Does anyone have solution ideas? I was considering getting a foam pad to put under my air pad, but I’m not sure if/how much that would help, or which to get. Fwiw, I’m 5’8” ~160 lbs (and female).
