Nespresso Essenza Mini

I had attended a coffee festival and tasted my first “real” espresso and realized I had to be able to make at home, but on a tight budget. I went with a Nespresso Essenza Mini and enjoyed it for two full years before making the jump to a Breville Bambino. I am slipping further and further down the rabbit hole though, already eyeing up Gaggias and Rancilios and Lelits... so beware the addiction!

Now I take it to work and it all fits in a reasonably small pencil case ish size bag. The other thing- what about a nespresso machine? I know that will never be as good as proper espresso but the Essenza mini and aerocinno 4 will be so small and easy compared to any other set up you have in your room.

Had my essenza mini since 2017 and even if I do brew with a Chemex and V60, it’s not espresso, so to me Nespresso is still going to be a different drink, and it’s reliable. Recycle your pods :).

I use (forgive me) a Nespresso Essenza Mini alongside a Nespesso Aerocinno 3 Milk Frother. However I’m finding myself more and more disappointed at the quality of the coffee and especially the milk, the frother is simply too small and doesn’t make a sufficient amount of foam, more of a silk type milk than foam. I’d love to upgrade to something else in this price range, the machine is okay, but I really need a decent milk frother or alternative so I can make coffee better!

If you just want a quick latte-ish drink with little fuss, these are great. I picked up a used Nespresso mini essenza from Facebook market place for $65. I like it at that price, and the pods from Costco are reasonably priced.
