 The Base units with wind and rain gauges is a pretty decent $360 investment, so how does it do? In TechHive Tests, we found the Netatmo weather station to be very accurate. It was never far from the readings of a local National Weather Service station. All Three battery-powered devices were easy on power consumption - you won't need to constantly change the batteries. Oh, and you can get an immediate read out of the air quality at anytime by pressing the top of the base unit

Here's what I like..

 Takes about an hour to get reliable outdoor readings. However, indoor humidity is 20% too high but according to the netatmo forums, it may take up to 2 weeks for indoor humidity to be accurate. So for now I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5, but that may change one direction or the other in the next 2 weeks. Outdoor temperature and humidity are very close to what my local NWS office is showing on their web site, and indoor temperature is within one degree of another sensor in the house

 Absolutely WRONG! The outdoor unit transmits either on 915 MHz or 868 MHz to the indoor unit, which then transmits the data via wifi to the Netatmo servers. It transmits on those bands because it requires a lot less power to communicate to indoor unit as there is a lot less interference and 915 MHZ or 868 MHz are very efficient over short ranges. If it actually had to use wifi to communicate with indoor unit, you would be replacing batteries every day.  ***********UPDATE AUGUST 5 2013******************** The indoor humidity is still running 20% too high, while rest of readings seem accurate

 Their response was quick and they instructed me to set them side by side and then I emailed the readings to them along with a reference temperature and humidity from another known accurate device. They then made adjustments, not to the actual equipment, but most likely adjusted the readings when they came in through the cloud. Probably just some correction to the readings after they come into their servers. As long as it works, I am happy

 In fact that offset isn't very good because if your temp is off, it will be off in a non-linear fashion with changing temps, so applying a hard offset won't really help.  The outside module is so convenient to just place on top of a table or any hard surface without trying to mount it on an arm. Initially I had it placed on the edge of a patio to try to get it as close outside as I could but also keeping it away from sun and rain. But that gave incorrect readings

 I must say that when I look at the wunderground map I see some station reporting temps that are outside the consensus of stations around it. I look at the hardware being used and it's been about 8/8 being a Netatmo PWS! This means that it is fairly common for folks not taking great care in the placement of the outdoor module but I don't really blame them, the documentation is severely lacking. The hardware is fine, I wish Netatmo would have basically provided the information I mentioned in this review in the manual. I had to figure it out myself over time

 All other readings seemed okay. After a bunch of experimenting over weeks I think I finally have been able to get accurate outside temp readings without even applying any calibration offset in the iOS app. In fact that offset isn't very good because if your temp is off, it will be off in a non-linear fashion with changing temps, so applying a hard offset won't really help.  The outside module is so convenient to just place on top of a table or any hard surface without trying to mount it on an arm

 Initially I had it placed on the edge of a patio to try to get it as close outside as I could but also keeping it away from sun and rain. But that gave incorrect readings. I think the issue is that whenever you have the module anywhere close to the home structure there must be some non-negligible heat radiation coming off the structure to influence the module significantly. I moved the module to the outer edge of my pool cage on a waist-high railing, which put it about 20 feet from the main house structure and now temp readings day and night are definitely in good agreement with surrounding stations and airport, maybe a 1 or 2 degree difference among some surrounding stations (looking at wunderground's map)

A very good 21st century PWS

 Netatmo needs to fix their customer service issues and, in my opinion, really should personally contact all those they have ignored. This product would get 5 stars if I had heard anything from Netatmo regarding my customer service request.

 The Netatmo humidity readings are relatively accurate also when compared to the two mechanical hygrometers in my home. The CO2 levels are showing what would be normal in a home with good fresh air circulation, which my home has, so that is good too.  THE BAD: During the setup I found that a "ghost" indoor module unit is showing up in the Netatmo Module Manager software. Thinking that this may be a problem I emailed Netatmo Customer Support (no phone number) to enquire about what to do to resolve this issue as there doesn't seem to be any documentation or facility within the software itself on how to handle the issue

If i use the city that I live in or the zip code, I get temps that are too warm (~5 degrees) for my location. I was looking for something more accurate and something that i can access from home or on the go so that I can find out whether or not to turn on my thermostat to cool/heat my house (the thermostat on my AC/Heating unit connects to the internet but for some odd reason doesn't have an exterior thermostat so it pulls temps from the web, which depending on the city I choose is too hot/cold for my actual location

 I'll just stick to the inaccurate readings that my AC/Heating unit has and stick a 2 dollar mercury thermometer with a suction cup on the outside of my patio door to replace the $350+ dollars I spent with Netatmo.

 This product however is NOT cheap enough to warrant the lack of accuracy. I expect this kind of low accuracy from a digital thermometer I pick up from a 99 cents only store. I'll just stick to the inaccurate readings that my AC/Heating unit has and stick a 2 dollar mercury thermometer with a suction cup on the outside of my patio door to replace the $350+ dollars I spent with Netatmo.

Returnable item. Great start for "Smart" thermometers but not quite there yet.

  The main unit and sensors are very nice looking and really small. Temp sensors are pretty accurate and you can adjust the calibration in the setup if you like. Humidity sensor is less accurate, my three sensors range over about 10% and they can't be user-calibrated, no biggie for me. Notifications are easy to set up - I particularly wanted to get notified if heat went too low, and this was trivial to set up

 The indoor temperature is great for confirming the house heating is working and nothing has failed, so we don't come home to frozen pipes in the winter. I added an additional sensor for a separate structure for the same reason.  The main unit and sensors are very nice looking and really small. Temp sensors are pretty accurate and you can adjust the calibration in the setup if you like
