 Hi it's Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty Science here, chemistry PhD and fan of research based skincare. Today I'm going to be talking about the science behind two very popular Neutrogena products the Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser and the Clear Pore Cleanser and Mask. I think there's this idea that picking the right cleanser is just about low pH and these two are low pH but there's a lot more to cleanser formulations than just that.  So this doesn't have that harshness or stripping that you might expect from a cleanser that foams up and cleans skin effectively. This also has a ton of my favorite humectant ingredient glycerin. Glycerin is really good at holding onto water so it acts like a little sponge that sits on your skin and keeps it hydrated. This is particularly important in a cleanser because cleansing is generally the harshest step in a skincare routine

 I love how easily this spreads on my skin and washes off. My skin is oily and acne prone but sometimes I find benzoyl peroxide still a bit too harsh because I'm also quite prone to dehydration and my skin is sometimes a bit dry from using retinoids. If I want to use benzoyl peroxide without having an extra layer on my skin or that extra irritation this is great. I usually put it on before I go into the shower or even in the shower and then wash my hair and then wash it off

It's a gentle face wash but it's non sudsing

 I'm sorry But I don't know that's been working great for my skin I've been using this like I said for a month and I've had no problems I have not my acne hunks actually like really dimmed down Um, I have a couple breakouts. Um, I Have that one peak one right there This is actually very good Um, it's actually very good Compared to how my skin was Yeah, sorry for my hair I I didn't know what to do with it today. So I just kind of put a headband on and put it in a bun kind of Um, so yeah Wonderful product. I highly recommend it and I highly recommend it

 The rinse is clean without over drying for a month I've every time I've used this my face is not dry afterwards. I feel very young. I mean It has a little bit of a scent but it's barely anything else and I actually like the scent on Yeah, just got soap all over me Yes, so Yeah, so like I said, this is a wonderful cleanser if you're in them if you are the kind of person that likes Foaming cleansers, um, it says foaming formulas so I'm wondering if they make like creams or Or different kinds of things when I bought this I didn't really see it But you know, I bought this at CVS so not quite sure how well stock their skincare places It looks pretty soft though. Oh And so yeah This is wonderful if you like foaming cleansers, um, if you will have sensitive skin and You know need hypoallergenic things Um, so sensitive skin and Um Yeah, it's just wonderful

 Um, I guess And it says that it's dermatologist develop for sensitive skin and it Rinse is clean without over drying. Um, that part's true. The rinse is clean without over drying for a month I've every time I've used this my face is not dry afterwards. I feel very young

 I've never been sunburnt in my life. So I'm kind of dealing with that But yeah, and Like if I got up close you could see it. Yeah, you know, there it is all over so pretty for you guys and then Gonna stay away cuz Not pretty up close anyway, so Yes, I'm gonna do this review. Um, so I got this about like I said a month ago um, I before this I had been using like the Neutrogena oil-free like the orange one You know, I'm talking about it's like an orange just liquid bones You wash your face with it

What products, serums, spa treatments, etc do you recommend? I'm open to a suggestions! Struggled with bad skin since I was a teenager, and really trying hard to get back on track.

For something marketed toward sensitive skin, fragrance should not be in this. I prefer the foaming formula over the creamy formula in terms of feel and my skin feels cleaner with this one and doesn't leave behind a residue. But sadly I'm forced to use the creamy formula due to fragrance. Please Neutrogena, take fragrance out of this!!!!!!
