The pivot grips are made of this hard-rubber, almost plastic-like material, meaning they don’t “stick” to the laptop as well. If you bump the stand, there is a chance that your laptop will fall out of it

 The stand itself is built of PVC—essentially, hard plastic—and feels pretty sturdy when it is set up. It has some hard-rubber clips on the bottom that pivot, allowing you to secure the front of your laptop. Affordable Laptop Stand

 Size difference is noticeable between the two (e.g. Nexstand protrudes horizontally by about quarter of an inch longer). I have limited real estate on my temporary work space as I telework from home during COVID

 This all comes down based on preference and your work/home situation. My wife plans to use the Nexstand for her work laptop, so neither of us did not leave empty handed.

 In the pictures I posted for reference, the Nextstand is on the bottom (with and without the attachment clip for the clasps) and the Roost is on top.  Here are my comparisons which gives the Roost the slight edge: 1) Nexstand is slightly bigger and bulker than the Roost. Size difference is noticeable between the two (e.g

 2) Although fairly stable; however, Nexstand seemed to slide more on my table. Granted this is dependent on the material type of the table, but having two kids around run my desk made me uneasy on the chance they might bump the table and knock over my laptop. I felt I would need to put down some contact paper on the legs of the Nexstand to prevent any shifting. On the other hand, the Roost has a rubberized type material on the bottom of the front wheels

For Those Debating Which Stand to Buy Between Nexstand and Roost

 Still waiting on the Roost to arrive, so I cannot compare at tis time. Initial impressions of the Nextstand: + the base of my laptop on the screen side is raised 11 inches at the highest setting + this helps- having my screen elevated makes a big difference in neck comfort + it is portable- the sand isn't tiny, but it is lightweight and the stand folds down compact enough to fit in a backpack for sure. I would have no problem bringing it on a plane, etc. + the build quality is acceptable so far

I tried both the Roost and the Nexstand and ended up keeping the Nexstand for one reason: the angle works better with my Google Pixelbook Go.  My Pixelbook screen only goes back so far and the Roost puts it at such a steep angle that the screen looks like it's tilted down slightly on the highest setting. When trialing it, I kept automatically trying to push my screen back further, which didn't work, because it was already open as far as it could go. I believe a read another review from someone with a MacBook that had the same problem

  If this wasn't a problem, I would have chosen the Roost over the Nexstand. In summary, it's far superior in quality.  SPECIFICS: The Roost feels sturdier, is smaller (but not too small for security), has actual soft rubber for the feet and where the stand touches the laptop, and even the storage bag is better quality.  The Nexstand looks and feels cheaper

Okay quality, but its functionality is outstanding

 The fact that it is adjustable means that it can ensure your laptop is at level with your eye on almost any table height. Also, it can fit almost any laptop size, my laptop is quite heavy and is about 15 inches (roughly 40-45 cm) in width and it fits snug on the stand.  2) Durability:- This is where I cannot give a guarantee as I've only had it for 3 weeks, but given the price and the materials used in making it, I would be surprised if it lasted for more than a year or two xD, but that's the whole point! You're getting your money's worth in a sense. I didn't want to spend on a $70 stand that's also adjustable, and the other good-quality ones are not adjustable, unfortunately

All in all, worth the money paid for if you arent willing to spend over $50 for a stand and you need something adjustable, but if you are working in an office and rarely take your laptop anywhere, I would highly suggest investing in a decent fixed stand (I'm sure there are those below $50) which may last even longer than this stand
