The Nidecker Escape is a classic-camber men's board that has the all-mountain rider in mind. For the more advanced rider with a stiffer flex, this board is good for someone who wants good edge hold, snap, and pop, out of a board that comes in at a lower price point than others. With positive camber and a round square nose, this board will be useful on steep lines, in the park, or shredding groomers.
Key Features:
- Positive Camber – This classic camber provides good grip and response, and Nidecker added small flat transitions at the contact points for more edge hold and stability.
- Round Square Nose – This nose shape has a wider profile and a smooth transition, making the board float better in the powder.

 The board still retains a lot of power on edge and pop on the ends, but I think it was a smart move to bring in that rise at the contact points. Not only does it make the ends of the board a little more forgiving and pressable, I'd say it now has the edge on last season's model in terms of its float-in powder. You've also got a 15-mil setback stance and just the slightest taper, and both of these will also help out in this department. Without really compromising any switch performance

 But with this year's tweaks to this shape and the profile, as well as Nidecker's quality materials packed into every inch of the board, it's definitely a standout in this category as one of the best on the market.  The ash wood veneer topsheet looks the business, and it also has some function by adding to the board's overall pop and responsiveness. Or so Nidecker say, at least. I can't really comment on how effective that specifically was, but overall the test team found the Escape to be pretty lively, with a lot of energy at the ends of the board in particular. It makes sense though, the core is constructed out of no less than four different woods to create a really tough, lightweight and reactive flex, and that's sandwiched on either side with triaxed fibreglass laminates

 The board has a 7 out of 10 flex rating, which is exactly where this kind of snowboard should be, but depending on what area of the board you were flexing or pressuring would change how responsive or how playful it felt. If you're looking to get airborne, there's a whole lot of firepower at the ends of the board, and similarly, if you're just charging around the mountain, you'll find you got a lot of stability outside of your feet. But if you're locking into a board slide or you're wanting to work the side cap and flex through the centre of the board, it's generally a lot more torsionally forgiving. Underneath all of that, you'll find a pretty rapid sintered base fitted to the Escape

Snowboard recommendation

 Base, N7000 sintered, tough, durable, sintered base without a carbon nanoparticles for exceptional glide, speed and wax retention there, so a good high-end techie base. The Escape features the Nideca MasterCore, which uses a blend of Poplar, Beech, Spruce and Paolonia and a range of densities that both lightens the core and delivers superior weight to performance to power ratio for a lightweight and highly responsive ride. Alongside this is the Dual Plus Biax, a 90 degree biaxial fiberglass designed to give the board a more predictable torsional flex. The premium sandwich construction uses carbon and Kevlar for greater pop and improves shock absorption, while the absorb mid-top sheet gives you an innovative top-layer construction developed to absorb unwanted vibrations for a smooth, dynamic and fatigue-free ride

 It's a good all-round kind of flex, good even flex on there with a directional twin shape, so a little bit more heft in the tail. Great for those features, all-mountain, a little bit of all-mountain freestyle on there. So you've got positive camber, traditional positive camber with a rockered nose and tail, great for more of a flat transition at the contact points, precision with a responsive edge hold and stability on there. So you've got that positive camber on the foot, it gives you that great stability, great control in sort of harder, sort of icier conditions if you really want to hit those groomers a little faster as well

 Okay, so I've got here the 2020 Nideca Escape. Now this is your all-mountain directional twin, 5 out of 10 on the Nideca Flex Rating, so it's not too soft, not too stiff. It's a good all-round kind of flex, good even flex on there with a directional twin shape, so a little bit more heft in the tail. Great for those features, all-mountain, a little bit of all-mountain freestyle on there

2019 / 2020 | Nidecker Escape Snowboard | Video Review

 It was just another fucking day. I rode it with my K2 Indies and my K2 Thraxxas boots. This board comes in at around a middle of the road flex, and I use that loosely. It's probably just a little bit underneath that

 You know, you got more play out in the tip and the tail there, so it's kind of what you expect. A lot of torsional flex to it. The board's moderately stable. I mean, you're going to notice some chatter out in those rocker zones in the tip, so it'll be flapping at you at high speeds, and it'll resonate a little bit underfoot, but not a whole lot

 Is it gonna be the worst thing that I've ever ridden? No. It's just a middle of the pack board that gets the job done and there's plenty of boards like that out there. This isn't anything that's revolutionary or mind blowing. Comparable boards, the Ride Shadowband, the Battalion Whatever, the Salomon Assassin

 This board is available in 152, 156, 159, 159 wide, 162 wide, 162 extra wide, 165 wide, 169 extra wide. I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny, bluebird day, there was warmer temps you had, ice, slush, chunder, chop, hero snow, basically a mix of all the conditions and I rode it with my Roam black label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots. This is your standard run of the mill all mountain freestyle flex to it, softer tips that stiffen up midway back to the inserts through the middle with an overabundance of torsional flex and when it comes to stability you feel everything. There's a lot of chatter in the tips at high speed, it resonates back underfoot and even when you're flat basing it's one of those boards that while it's not overly damp, it's not overly lively, you just sort of prepare yourself to get bucked around when you get into choppy terrain
