2020 / 2021 | Nidecker Sensor Plus Snowboard | Video Review

 So that is going to give you a lot of energy back when doing ollies and a lot of pushback when doing turns. So it's going to be a very lively feeling board in the park. It's also a stiffer snowboard so it's coming in at a 7 out of 10 making it the stiffest park board that Nidecker makes

 It's the Nidecker Sensor Plus. This is the most aggressive and stiffest park board that Nidecker makes and in a couple weeks I'll be able to ride it in Hintertux Austria. So I'm really stoked to ride this board. A few things about it and the reason that I chose it

 So you're gonna get a little more spring Now is it the snappiest board out there? No But families with fat little skier kids should watch out because Timmy's getting launched over That's the type of pop that this board has it's reactive. It's predictable You know what you're gonna get now when it comes to jumps small medium totally has you covered Now if you want to scare yourself and leave the kiddie park You probably should because this thing can actually handle bigger jumps It's one of those boards that if you want to be laid back You can let the lip throw you and it's gonna do what it needs to do or you can load up pop off of it You're gonna go a little higher and a little bit further and you're gonna make it past the knuckle for most of you Some people just don't make it past the knuckle with this board. Don't know why so here's the thing about buttering with this board It's full of camber, right? That means that that's gonna fight you and it's the plus model So it's gonna be a little bit stiffer So you want to figure out where your sweet spot is to engage out in the tip in the tail That's where you're gonna leverage your weight over and lock in and when you do you're gonna feel it fight you You're gonna feel it fight you that's the camber just wanting to get back to its natural shape Now as an added bonus you do have 3d shaping with the sidekick technology in there That's gonna help reduce the possibility of an edge catch if you know how to butter You're not really gonna have a problem with this board But if you're just learning and you don't understand the nuances of camber You need to learn because you're gonna get shit whipped to the ground and you're gonna hate your life This is a board that if you know what you're doing, you're great. You're fine You don't have to worry about if you don't oh, oh, you're not gonna have fun with it Now when it comes to jibbing with this board, you're not gonna get mega presses with it You're gonna have to put a little more effort into pushing on the outside of the binding for a nose or a tail press really locking that sweet spot and Preparing for that fight of the camera because it wants to set itself back down So you're gonna put more effort into it and when you hit the end of the feature It's gonna spring right back out now when you go sideways the camera profile gently caresses the feature doesn't clap out It doesn't really fold right around it

No, is it a board that can handle jibbing? Yes, and you need to put a little more speed Not a lot just a little bit more speed into it and you have to understand the nuances of how to muscle it To get it to jib if you do that, you're gonna be totally fine. So I'll say this about the sensor plus It's mildly better at carving compared to the regular sensor that 3d shaping does elevate the contact points So there is a quicker edge to edge transmission because it's not biting right in it's kind of just rolling from edge to edge But there's still limitations this thing's good for quick setup carves and medium mellow cars where you kind of just swooping around It's when you really try to push it from the center back through the tail We really just pushing that camber profile down trying to get that power out of the tail It loses some of that grip

 This board is available in 147 150 153 156 and 159 I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny bluebird day with zero winds there was warmer temps So you had like slush, chop, chunder, perfect corduroy Just basic early spring conditions and I rode it with my Rome black label bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots This is your standard run-of-the-mill twin parkboard flex. Softer tips stiffening up Right outside the inserts through the middle with a lot of torsional flex to it Stability you're gonna feel chatter in the nose and the tail at high speeds The midsection is the stiffest so it is the most stable and when you get into really choppy terrain It will get bucked around With this being the plus model of the sensor it is stiffer than the regular one Which means you got to put a little more load into that camber section when you roll back to pop off of it It's gonna rebound and react just a little bit more. So you're gonna get a little more spring Now is it the snappiest board out there?  It's noticeable and It's an approachable park board. But at the end of the day When you're trying to make something that stands out, this is just the middle of the road board It's it's another snowboard that I've written the 3d shaping is nice. It does work. The snap is there It's easy to engage you do get a lot of rebound out of it, but it's not a mind-blowing board It's just another snowboard that you get on your ride and you know, it's gonna do what you need it to do But it's just it's middling at best Comparable boards the Solomon Huck knife the Rome agent the ride zero binding recommendations the Nidecker Kion X the ride c6 the Rome katana
