 So the next problem this step-in binding tackles is snow getting clogged up and jammed in Places where your boot would click in if you had a Burton or K2 step-in binding I'm not saying it'll never happen with this binding. All I'm saying is it'll happen a lot less frequently There's only two real spots where it could really happen in this binding and that's gonna be where the hinge makes the connection on The backside of the binding here, but to be completely honest with you guys I rode this binding probably five or six times during the end of main season more into spring where the snow starts getting really slushy And I never really ran into a problem with it So lastly as you can see this step-in binding actually has a strap system to it now with this strap system Don't worry. It's still gonna be able to step in just as easy as any of the other ones However, I find that this adds an added level of security if you will just gives me a little more confidence that nothing's gonna go Wrong couldn't possibly pop out because you know, if you did these straps would save you in a way So now I want to get into how this binding performs on snow Like I said before I got to ride it about five to six times last year We actually got it in early We were able to demo it a little bit before it hit the market and let me tell you if you're looking for a wicked Responsive hard charging binding with all the conveniences of a step-in This is definitely the binding for you now to get into the straps on the binding These are actually pretty cool because it's mostly a set it and forget it type of deal So basically you want to put your boot in here Lock down the straps as needed to where you feel secure on it And then like I said before with this little lever right here The straps will stay in place and you just pull the back out and that way when you lock in Are totally secure in there. You really don't have to touch them another feature

I should mention with the straps as well They have a little color coding to let you know when the straps are unlocked versus locked So when you flip the strap up and you see this orange little block on the strap, that means it can move freely So whenever you are setting it you want to make sure you can't see that orange and you want to have it locked down With any step in binding on the market You're gonna run into a little bit of added weight whether it's Burton or k2 with their boots being bulky and you know inherently heavier this binding there is a Little bit more weight to it. But all in all I didn't really find it too much of a problem So bottom line being if you're in the market for a new step in binding And you're looking for something that rips really hard and is super responsive

But I really wanted to make this video to answer the six most frequently asked questions that you guys were giving me. Some of the things that I didn't quite cover in that first video review, as well as at the end of the video, I'm going to let you know my updated thoughts and opinion on these bindings. Now, the main question I kept getting is how much do the highbacks fold forward to allow you to do things like pack your board into a board bag and also get on and off those low chair lifts? Because, as you can see, when I folded the highback forward there, I was able to fold the highback forward so that I could get on and off those low chair lifts

 Some of the things that I didn't quite cover in that first video review, as well as at the end of the video, I'm going to let you know my updated thoughts and opinion on these bindings.  And they both do have the binding screws in at the bottom, so it was a fair contest. Question six, how adjustable are the bindings? How much can you move them left and right on the board to get your ideal stance width, and how much can you move them towards the toe and pull them back towards the heel edge to center your foot properly on the board? And do they work on the Burton Channel system? Yes, they do work on the Burton Channel system, as well as working on the normal four by four holes that pretty much most boards have, and that old school 3D one, whatever it's called. Onto moving the binding left and right to get your ideal stance width. Of course, you can just move it one set of holes up or down, but to be able to move it in slightly smaller increments, you can see that the binding this here is actually slightly offset

Nidecker Supermatic Follow Up Review - Your Questions Answered

 Others were a little indifferent. They liked the performance and the comfort of the binding, but found themselves using it like a conventional two strap for most of the day. And if that's how you're going to use it, your money is probably best spent elsewhere. And they did all agree on one thing, though

 Similarly, the wider footprint of the baseplate might ever so slightly interfere with your board's more natural flex pattern. What I will say though is that the rockered design around the edges of the baseplate are designed to limit this effect. Anyway, the question everyone wants to know. Is this a game changer? Well, yes and no

 Even without the automatic drop-in technology, these would stand up on their own as a quality pair of performance all-mountain bindings. A couple things to keep in mind though. Naturally, the extra components used in the binding do add a little extra weight and volume to these. It's not overly noticeable, but maybe something you do want to be aware of

 It's probably going to take you a day or two to get comfortable and efficient at using the system, but once you've got it, you'll be getting in and out in absolutely no time. Find your perfect strap fit, fix it in place with the locking ratchets here, and you've got the exact same fit every time you step in. But then again, you don't have to rely on this. That's the beauty of the Supermatics

 Who's this binding for? Someone that wants a middle of the road performance with the ease of entry of stepping into it, someone that maybe has a disability or they're out of shape and they just can't bend over as quick or maybe they ride with skiers, I don't know why and they just want to be able to get in and out relatively fast. Do I think this is a true step in and that it works? Yes. Do I think it's for everyone? No. People are going to find that there's limitations with it but for someone that's a comfort rider that just doesn't want to sit down to strap in to be with their skier friends which I don't know why you're sitting down to strap in, this is a good option and I think it actually works

 Hello snowboarders of the internet, I'm your host Averin LaFeber and in this video we're going to be reviewing the new Nidecker Supermatic Binding. Alright so I wrote this binding in a magnitude of conditions between Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin so I had slush chopped chunder, ice, death cookies, fresh pow, heavy pow, windblown ice, perfect corduroy hero snow, just anything you can absolutely imagine and I wrote it on my Telos Mike Rankwit and my K2 Cool Bean with my K2 Thraxis boots. When it comes to binding adjustability you have three flip tabs for the straps, so two for the toe, one for the heel, flip it up, slide it up, slide it out, that's going to help you dial it in and you want to spend the time to just make sure you get the pressure aligned right. Then you have the forward lean adjustment on the high back and finally you have three spots for the toe ramp so you can just slide it a little more forward or backwards based on where you need to center it in the chassis of the binding just to keep it aligned with your boot
