 I think the umi k1 is the popular choice. Maybe if i use that or sound better, i don't know maybe i'll play around with that in the future, but anyways it sounds good. I'M gon na listen to it for a week, just like i did with acuq and see how it sounds, but let's go ahead and go over the menus, real, quick before we conclude this video alright. So, first of all there is this little quick menu here

 Let me turn down the volume we're going to go ahead and use accu eq first, because i want to use direct live the second time i do this, so we're going to go ahead and try out this one first, so we've got our mic set up here. We'Re gon na click next, it says to place the microphone center there. So, as you can see, everything was detected, so i'm just gon na go ahead and click next all right, so you can measure up to nine positions. I'M gon na click finish for now, because i'm gon na probably use direct live, but we're just gon na go ahead and see how this did all right

 So i had the onkyo tx nr838 with the first generation of accu eq, and it didn't really have that. Many options and the testing was pretty basic, but it sounded okay. Now this one. I think this is third generation

 That probably explains why i don't feel any bass when i'm listening to movies all right and then, if you press the i button on the remote you get this option here. So you have the input and then the output. So right now i'm not really playing anything. So it says two channels, but if i play a movie on my computer it'll say something else, and then here we have the input, as you can see

Is that the PB 3000?   I can't tell.  Dumb story time: we went out of town on vacation and my dad was using my house while we were gone.  Got home, my entire HT system was out of whack.  Almost like he factory reset everything.  I'm still fixing things like power auto off settings. Anyhow, I knew something was still wrong with the audio but couldn't put my finger on it.  Felt like the biggest dunce when I saw my PB 3000 was unplugged.  Got it sorted, and it's like subgrade day all over again!   This thing booms! 😆

Subgrade day.

 Issue #1: I have a LG tv with eARC. I use a set top box and Apple TV input to the receiver. The onkyo constantly defaults to the “TV” selection. You have to constantly fight the receiver to use the “cable /sat” input as it wants to always be on input from your TV through the eARC feature on the main output

 Also, if you use an app on your TV say Hulu and switch to another app like Netflix you again loose audio and have to turn your Onkyo receiver off and back on again.

 Issue #2: switching from my Apple TV connected to “Stormbox” input back to say TV you always loose audio. Rarely this self corrects in 30-40 seconds. Usually you have to shut the receiver off and back on again. Contacted onkyo support twice on the phone

 Was told TV manufacturers only want all devices connected solely through their TV which is what is causing my issues. Apparently onkyo is not writing their own software to fight these issues. Go figure! Yes, I updated the software of the receiver before initial setup. Good luck if you buy this unit and you want to run a cable, satellite or Tivo through the receiver and are also using eARC on a modern tv

 Went through multiple TV and receiver settings to no satisfaction. Finally was told that the issues were the HDMI standards and TV manufacturers faults and not onkyo. Was told TV manufacturers only want all devices connected solely through their TV which is what is causing my issues. Apparently onkyo is not writing their own software to fight these issues

Disappointed

 It makes you wonder if it's really worth it to pay more is the rotel and the nadt778 better in terms of absolute definition between your speakers yeah, but the onkyo isn't exactly embarrassed by either of them. Now, when watching movies, there is no difference. Spatial cues are rendered with such precision and disregard for the physical boundaries of your room that dolby atmos mixed films like a quiet, place, 2 surrounded me and it surrounded me at times, even without my surround sound channels connected yeah, i'm talking about a 3.1 or 3

 Fourteen hundred dollars, uh, give or take is uh not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but this particular receiver is so good that if you can stretch your budget from the six seven hundred dollar mark of some of these budget ones up to fourteen hundred dollars, Not only are you getting a better receiver, but i think the onkyo is every bit the equal of receivers that are costing three four five thousand dollars right now. Yeah i mean i as far as your point about your comparisons that you made with the rotel and the nad, the rotel. We don't have it in house anymore and my especially when it comes to amplifiers and receivers unless there's a dramatic difference in the sound. It'S very difficult for me to honestly say yeah

 The direct and pure audio modes of the onkyo are fantastic and they are neck and neck uh with the right speakers. They are neck and neck with the two channel performance of some integrateds in and around the same price point of the receiver. So you can kind of look at it from that standpoint in that, if you can get by with 120 watt per channel receiver same as you maybe can get by by a 75 watt or 100 watt per channel integrated and your budget is still in that 1500 Realm, but you do like movies on occasion and things like that, the onkyo is a far more versatile product. It just is - and one thing i didn't touch upon in the review, because we only have so much time but the rz50, unlike the 5100, does have a built-in moving magnet phono preamp and it is actually pretty serviceable

Almost what I hoped for

I am tending towards the ones in blue, given my budget ($1500, but looking for excellent value for less).

Received a product that had been previously opened and used and opened. Not brand new like described.  Overall enjoying the product just would have liked it to have been brand new as described. Everything was in the box but definitely has been opened and used

I have a 75 U7G and a Series X. I play COD Warzone and every game in 4K HDR 120Hz VRR. I have zero issues. Never seen any flickering. No audio delay. I use ARC to my Onkyo TX-NR809 and have the Xbox bitstream DTS  for games and passthrough Dolby Digital+ for videos. My AVR is not Atmos capable.

He said he saw some ghosting on doom eternal but black ops Cold War and ratchet looked and run very good. I have both series x and Ps5 to hook up to it.   So any info from hisense would be appreciated

So... It's no news that U7G/U8G models have a flickering issue while displaying 4K@120Hz content with VRR with or without FreeSync enabled. A quick search in this subreddit throws several examples:

I have a 75in U7G and experience the same issues. I've done some testing with a PS5, Xbox Series X &amp; a RTX 3070:

**PS5:**

* No issues there, also, no surprise on that, since the PS5 doesn't support VRR.

**Series X:**

* Dolby Vision only works up to 4k@60Hz. At 120Hz it falls back to HDR10. I believe only LG TVs support DV at 120Hz.
* Enabling VRR &amp; 120Hz in the Xbox settings works fine for games that can keep a stable framerate. For example, Ori and the will of the wisps works beautifully.
* More demanding games that support 120fps work intermittently. I believe it's when the framerate dips that the TVs SoC struggles to compensate and that causes the flicker.
* If I limit the Xbox to 60fps, then VRR, Freesync and Dolby Vision for gaming all work as expected.
* The flickering doesn't seem to start right away, at first it happens at long intervals, but that interval gets smaller quickly.
* Freesync made no difference for me. Toggling freesync during gameplay somehow seemed to make the flickering interval long again, but it catches up fast.

**RTX 3070:**

* I tried the Master Chief Collection, and got the same issues. Also, some flickering in the desktop.
* Freesync (which I believe is compatible with Freesync?) isn't detected
* Again, limiting to 60fps "solves" all issues.

So, I believe this isn't a problem specific to the Xbox, because Nvidia hardware has the same issue, and it seems to only happen when games struggle to keep up with 120fps, but blaming games is an easy exit because that's the point of VRR: displaying content at a variable refresh rate without issues. Saying that it "works" because in certain games we have no issues is a fallacy, because in those cases VRR isn't really used at all.

Has anyone else had a different experience? Has anyone heard anything from Hisense?

I'm worried of this being a hardware limitation and that no firmware update will fix this, and potential buyers deserve to know this.

Summary of issues with U7G/U8G flicker with 4k@120 &amp; VRR

  Making a price comparison, my Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi was $1500 in 2006, my Sony DA5800ES $2100 in 2016, so I think I was asking for too much from this receiver that at $1400 would be the cheapest considering the prices of the other two in today’s dollars.  As a Reference the rest of my equipment are Martin Logan’s Ascend, 2 Emotiva XPR-1 and XPA-2 to bi-amp the Martins Oppo BDP-205, Sony SCD-XA5400ES, Emotiva Preamp among others.  As anything that you see here, take it with a grain of salt, this is my impression, your mileage may vary.  P

3 with 8k support, I wanted something that will give me years of enjoyment with movies and music.  The hoopla was big, and all I heard was that it was great with movies as well as music, well, it is no better than my Sony ES, nor a 15-year-old Pioneer Elite that I still have, I have no complains with movies but I had high hopes to simplify my system using it as a pre-amp for my music driving my power amps, well…no cigar, at least for me.  My advice, if you are into 2 channel music, and you are obsessed with quality music sound, this won’t simplify your life.  I am on the fence, if I should return it or not as I am still evaluating it

 How come I don't experience that with my Sony ES or my Pioneer Elite?
