 Both the Black Carve 2 and Challenger are available in two different drive systems, belt drive and direct drive. In my case, I have the Black Carve 2 with belt drive and the Challenger with direct drive. As you saw in my uphill battle video, the Black Carve 2 was one of the top performers and the motors remained cooler than all of the competing boards. The direct drive motors on my Challenger are the same beefy motors that were used on the original Black Carve

 The battery capacities are labeled as 756Wh for the Black Carve 2 and 504Wh for the Challenger. You could say those numbers are true from a certain point of view, but the problem is, none of the competitors calculate battery capacities using the max voltage, which is what Onsra did. If Onsra were to use nominal voltage like everyone else, the Black Carve 2 would be 648Wh, not 756, and the Challenger would be 432Wh, not 504. Those are still impressive numbers compared to the competition, but they're substantially lower than the numbers shown on the boards

com. I also have issues with a few of Onsra's claims about their boards, and I'm not talking about variable stuff like range.  The durometer of the bushings are 100A, which means they're as hard as they come. But because these trucks use cone bushings, the boards are still highly maneuverable. And with the Challenger's shorter wheelbase, it's even more maneuverable. Sort of

BUY/SELL/TRADE - Megathread

 Keep in mind that lots of things affect range. The rider's weight, acceleration, speed, incline, wind, etc. The wheels also make a big difference. Bigger and softer wheels use up more energy than smaller and harder wheels

 If I were using the 97 mm wheels, I would guesstimate that I'd use about, let's say, 11 Wh per kilometer and get a range of about 42 km. That's assuming all the same conditions except for the different wheels. If you want to know more about how to estimate range, visit my website dquan.com

 If you're looking into a direct drive board, there's not a lot of options. So let's see how this one does. The Onsra Black Carve is one of the few electric skateboards today that use direct drive motors with wheels mounted on the motors. This design has major benefits over the more common direct drive hub motors

 Normally, I prefer smaller wheels so I can get that burst of performance when I want it. I don't mind getting spoiled by these very comfortable wheels. This board is heavier than I prefer, and I think that's the main thing I dislike about it. But the reality is every board with a large battery is heavy

Recommendations and Suggestions

 Performance. According to the Onsra's website, with 150 millimeter AT wheels, Black Carve 2 can go up to 46 kilometers per hour and range up to 42 kilometers. For the speed, it will absolutely deliver 46 kilometers per hour, and for most of my riding, I rarely push myself above 40, so I don't think I need to go any faster. But for reference, the board doesn't need to be very stable at high speed and comfortable, thanks to the well-designed deck

 For my weight, which is 60kg, factory setup is very restrictive. For adjusting the turning radius, you need to loosen the bolts. With included T-tools, I can only reach the top bolts, but not the bottom one. I hope they include a better toolset in the future, such as number 14 spanner like this

 Lastly, the battery of the remote only lasts about two riding, three if I'm lucky, before I need to charge. It's probably due to the display being too bright, but it really needs some improvement over here. Performance.  While two 63-68 motor provide excellent low speed torque, the acceleration is very smooth even on mode three, and the brake feels strong enough to stop at any speed. In any cases, I didn't feel any lack of power or speed, even at off-road trail where this board really shines. Just like the switch lane where this board is developed, here in Ontario, we have lots of trail paths surrounding the city where you can really enjoy this board around. So Onsra's Black Carve 2 looks and feels premium
