I already own a OCD and Bug muff Pi for guitar. Wondering if I'd be better  off getting a dedicated bass pedal for that RATM tone?

I bought this amp trying to lighten my load. Not as young as I used to be, and those days of moving tons of gear around for every gig are not fun anymore. So I looked at all manner of amp, I needed a new rig to play out with, and I liked the whole idea of this little 10.6 pound amp possessing great power! I liked the looks, and the good reviews, and finally I liked the prices I have seen on these factory refurbished units

 I have only had mine a short time and I cannot imagine I will ever part with this unit. The matching gig bag that it fits in is a must have, if you plan to move it ever, you want the Orange padded gig bag that fits this and other Orange units. Mine came with it as a perk, with some other swag, decals and a large nylon shopping bag with their logo on it, very handy too. But even if you must pay extra, you want that gig bag

  I just cannot say enough good things about this amazing little amp! Why lug that monster of a head around when this little terror can out perform it in every way! Only a true 300 watt all tubed head could sound any better, and I do not have to remind you how much they weigh, or what a change of tubes cost, and keeping your bias set, forget all that! And get the Orange Terror 500!

 Just Gain and volume, three tone knobs, on the front, with a tiny button to choose input either passive or active. The end has a direct out on XLR, with a ground lift switch! Nice touch. The Orange Terror has two 12AX7 tubes driving the preamp, so a direct out directly after the pre sounds quite amazing. On the rear we find two Speak-On connections, and a small switch that lets us choose 8 or 4 ohm, depending on your speaker arrangement

So, I've been playing bass for almost 2 years now and I just got a sweet deal on an electric guitar and with it, I got the Orange Micro Terror amp, which sounds extremely good. Just to see if it works, I plugged in my bass and turned the volume way down and it actually sounds MUCH better than my shitty Ibanez practice amp. This guitar amp produces the thick bass sound that I've been aching for since I got my practice amp.

 You can get a clean tone with loads of head-room, or an overdriven raunchy rock tone worthy of rock hall glory. Seriously, this head does it all, not to mention it doesn't weigh a ton. It comes in a carrying case, which makes it easy to trasport. Buy this head if you get a chance, you wont be let down

 Tone-wise, It satisfies the neediest tone nerd. I have owned anything from the SVT Classic, to the Musicman 130 HD, to the Fender Bassman 70 and I can say this amp stands the test of time. It can sound like an all tube powerhouse, or a modern solid state monster. The tube pre-amp sound sloud and clear

 Today on Rare Spirits and Gear, we check out the brand new Bass Terror Head from Orange. Not one to rest on what they have created, Orange recently came out with the new and improved Bass Terror Head. Now this is a 500 watt Class D amplifier with a solid state power section and an all tube preamp section and it feels like it actually, it's not super heavy, it's also not super light. This feels like you can trust it, like you can kind of toss it off the back of a tour trailer or something

 Be warned though, it is damn loud. So just be careful if you plan on using it in a bedroom or something like that. It's totally capable of doing that, but it is a very, very loud 500 watts, if I may say so myself. All the Pokemon links down below in the description

This is why I really like the orange tiny terror series. Cranked is 7/15 watts and its still super loud but not so much you need an attenuator. I never had such a good tone with a band as I did with my terror.

I see lots of posts on here about bedroom volume, modelers, not disturbing the neighbors/family, and I get it.   I've been spending the pandemic in the basement recording late at night, and I need to be quiet too (I've been using Neural DSP's Archetype stuff, and it sounds great!  Check 'em out).  You gotta do what works for you so you can play.  No Judgement.

But the other day no-one was home and I had the chance to crank up my Hot Rod Deluxe.  I hadn't done it for months.  Oh, man.   Just the feel of power under your fingers, bathed in sound, pants flapping, no shit fuck all rock and roll is the best.

Now I'm not saying you have to buy a 100 watt HiWatt.   Practical concerns are a thing.   But when you get a chance, take it.   There's nothing like it.

[DISCUSSION] You Need to Play a Cranked Tube Amp

This is quite literally the best money I have ever spent. The tone is unmatched no matter the setting. I play through a sansamp pedal coupled with a bbe sonic maximizer into a gents Benz xb 4x10, and I get a TON of compliments when playing out live. I currently play hardcore metal, but I've played everything from rock to jazz fusion, and I'm convinced there isn't anything this amp can't do

 As you've heard, especially in the slap bass sample, the Orange Terror bass can sound actually very very clean, if that's what you desire. But I think I don't reveal any secret when I say that Orange amps kind of like a little bit of dirt. And before we jump into the mud to investigate this any further, let's check the back and the sides. On the back, again typical Orange, the layout is rather minimalistic

 But it's basically the same as with the OB-1 heads from Orange. If you have a low passive bass you might want to use this one as well, because the input is very sensitive. And unlike with many other of the modern class D, especially bass amps, here it makes a huge difference where the input gain is set. If you set it low you stay very clean, if you put it more and more up you get more tube saturation, you get more compression and you get more overdrive

 Let's check it out. For the input we have this little pad switch here that gives you 6dB more headroom for active basses. But it's basically the same as with the OB-1 heads from Orange. If you have a low passive bass you might want to use this one as well, because the input is very sensitive

**Orange Terror Stamp/Micro Terror/Dark** - $200/$150 - Looks good in theory, I like the form factor, High gain seems pretty compressed though and I've heard nothing but bad things about Orange Cab Simulated outputs for headphones which really puts a damper on it. **Strymon Iridium** - $400 - More than I'd like to spend, but seems like a solid option based on reviews I've seen. **DSM & Humboldt Simplifier** - $300 - Looks like a good alternative to the Strymon, seem some complaints about it being noisy and the FX loop having some issues. **Boss GT-1** - $200 - Seems like a solid entry-level Multi-FX unit, has a built in looper, Has amp/cab sims for headphones out
