 With that said, is the 2M Bronze worth the extra money? Does it make sense to pay over $400 for this cartridge? Well, I think it is, but there are some caveats here. I first think you have to have a decent enough sound system to be able to notice the improvements. Your speakers should be spaced far enough apart from one another, you'll want to have a solid phono preamp, and you'll definitely want to make sure that you're playing vinyl records that are clean and in good condition. One thing I noticed about the 2M Bronze more than the 2M Blue is that it's a less forgiving cartridge

 The 2M Bronze not only came with screws in the package, but a mini flathead screwdriver as well, so that part of the installation was simple. Once that was complete, I grabbed the needle nose pliers again and carefully connected all four leads into the back of the 2M Bronze. Make sure to take your time when doing this, as you don't want to accidentally damage the wires. After that, I had to set the tracking force and make sure my cartridge was aligned properly

 Now there are two things that stand out the most when playing records using the 2M Bronze over the 2M Blue, depth and bass. Music seems to open up much more when using the 2M Bronze. While I feel upgrading to the 2M Blue from the 2M Red brought more detail, especially vocal detail through the speakers. I feel moving from the 2M Blue to the 2M Bronze has allowed me to hear much more depth in the music

 So now that the 2M Bronze is all set up, the question is not only how does it sound, but is it worth the upgrade if you already have the 2M Red or the 2M Blue? Now I'm not going to do direct audio comparisons between the different cartridges. I always find those to be a little bit hit or miss because it depends a lot on the speakers that you have and the type of microphone that I'm using to record the music. Well, that and you know, I don't want to deal with copyright infringement. But with that said, here are my thoughts on the Audifon 2M Bronze after having it for the past several weeks

New user, posting my setup. I'm not a dealer, just a long time vinyl collector. Let me know if anyone has questions or comments on my setup. I've got a weekly YouTube channel but I thought I'd start out by sharing my setup first :)

 Sound-wise, it is certainly adequate and there seems to be a bit more "air" than the OM 30 on some recordings though I can't say it was an improvement over the OM 30 in every case. I purchased it because I thought it was an upgrade from my Ortofon OM 30 but due to its lower tracking ability and the fact that I did not hear what I'd call a general improvement., I don't consider it an upgrade. You can purchase an Ortofon Super OM10 cartridge and purchase an Stylus 30 for it and have superior tracking for less money

 My Ortofon OM 30 had no trouble with the same track/same turntable/arm/same 1.5 gram tracking force. On more "routine" recordings, the cartridge had no trouble at 1.5 grams, including on all tracks of the Shure V15 IV test record

 And, oh, by the way, one important thing that I really like about this cartridge is the built-in stylus cover. The weight of this cartridge is 7.2 grams. The weight can be an issue depending on your tonearm and setup

 The fine line doesn't seem to miss any details within the recording and delivers good, tight bass. It's not until you switch back and forth you understand how clear this cartridge really is. I never felt like I was missing any detail whatsoever, and since I like details, this is a good thing. How was the soundstage? Well, in my experience, I haven't had great experience with good soundstage from moving magnet cartridges, but I will say this does open up quite a bit

 Soundstage is pretty three-dimensional, maybe an 8 out of 10. It's probably the best moving magnet cartridge I've heard for soundstage for under $500. I never felt like this cartridge was missing anything, whether I played rock or jazz or anything that I threw at it. So really, what's missing from this cartridge? From my perspective, it's bling

I have the old (80s era) Planar 3 with an Ortofon 2M Blue and it sounds mint.

The Dali Spektor 2 are great, too, agreed. Best small speakers for under £300 for sure.

OK, this post is definitely pointless fluff, but I have to share with someone how impressed I am with my new Rega Planar 3 turntable. I am not an audiophile by any measure, but me and the SO decided to treat ourselves to a new turntable after a month or so of tough work schedules. I took quite a bit of head scratching to work out how to properly align the cartridge, but we managed.

I have to say this sounds really, really nice. Granted, my old record player was a terrible no-name plastic piece of crap, so the baseline was very low... but this sounds so clean I feel like I'm listening to my records for the first time again. No hiss, no skipping (my old player skipped lots, probably a bad cartridge alignment). There's also a lot more 'space' to the music then there was before.

Set up:

* Rega Planar 3 w/ Rega Elys 2 cartridge
* Onkyo TX-8270
* DALI Spektor 2 (these sound unbelievably good for their size)

Currently indulging in a Magazine's Second Hand Daylight.

Good imaging but almost absent bass

 I could hear so much more clarity in the musicianship and more details. It's amazing how much difference the cartridge can make. So look, I'm stunned by the 2M Bronze. I can't wait to hear more records tonight

 This is an old cartridge. I'm going to replace this today with another cartridge. Okay. Now the cartridge I'm replacing it with is this guy right here, a bronze, Ortefon bronze

 And this is really kind of the entry point for cartridges. When you start moving from vinyl hobbyist to hi-fi enthusiast, this cartridge here is a couple of hundred bucks, so it's not a light investment. But it's important to consider also the quality of cartridge and stylus that you use for vinyl records. Because keep in mind this is a physical medium, so that little stylus right here is in touch with all of your record grooves

 And to top it off, the cartridge is the part that actually, or the stylus is the part that actually makes contact with the record. So the fact that you're using an Ortefon will mean that you can rest easy, that the contact with the record is not being destructive, but is actually, you know, playing the record as it intended to be played. So, again, Ortefon 2M Bronze. I'm so impressed

 Cost to replace is too high, so I went with the Bronze choice. With the Bronze, setup is to be carefully done, but easy. Beautiful. I had a Clearaudio Performer cart before this

 So anything that's sort of cut above say a 12dB range is going to possibly trigger distortion in the 2M Bronze. Now the Blue isn't any better particularly, but the Blue can be tracked at 2g, and that means that that distortion is overcome. So you won't be finding yourself getting crackle, getting distortion on the 2M Blue, where you will get it on the Bronze. That's not down necessarily to stylus tip, although I will do a video talking more about those, but it's basically down to the fact that the 2M Blue can be tracked heavier

 It wasn't until I got it on the Technics 1200G that I really found that it was capable of quite a lot more sound quality than you might imagine at its price point. So I highly recommend the 2M Blue. I prefer the sound of the Bronze a little bit but for all its issues and problems if you want to actually hear where it struggles, if you get something like the Hi-Fi News Test Record there are some bands on the inside of Side 1 which are 12dB, 14dB, 16dB and 18dB I think and you'll hear how it buzzes and mistracks. I know that most cartridges will when you certainly get to the 16dB and 18dB ones perhaps but the Bronze will struggle even on the 14dB which really is not good

 It also has a finer treble, so the treble is more extended, it's a little bit more delineated, it's a little bit more textured and layered, with a little bit more of that air feeling that they sometimes talk about on these forums, where you can hear a little bit more movement around the voices and instruments. The bass is also a bit cleaner, it's actually a little bit less forward than the Blue in terms of the bass, but the bass is a little bit again a little bit more textured, a bit more layered. But these are only subtle subtle differences, and on some tracks, on some records you might find the Blue to actually sound fuller, or maybe a little bit better in some ways. And that really has been my experience, the Blue has a more solid sound stage, it doesn't sound quite as blurry as the Bronze, which can sound a little bit out of centre

 And again the Blue doesn't do that so much, it's elliptical, it's much more forgiving and it's the pick of the range for me. You can track it at 2 grams and you can play any record and it will give you a neutral tone and a fantastic sound quality and I really rate it. I have got one, I haven't got one to show you, it's on the turntable at the moment. The turntable I'm running it on, I've used them on Rega Plano 3s and 6s, I've run it on a project before but it didn't really let it work on there at its best
