I'm looking for a 30-35l backpack to use for daily commute by motorcycle and light travel.

 Since I'll be using it while commuting I'm looking for a durable and water-resistant bag. I don't want something that needs a cover to be water-resistant enough during light to medium rainfall. Preferably a bag that has a sternum strap, if there is a waist strap I'd prefer it to be detachable. I'm trying to get a pack that can hold gym clothes + shoes, towel, 15 inch laptop, mouse and keyboard, chargers, water bottle, headphones.

So far my favourite option is the Patagonia Black Hole 32, it seems to be a great size for what I intend to use the bag for, looks durable, solid company and the black hole line looks to be pretty popular with satisfied users. My only 'worries' are the accessibility of the laptop compartment for daily use and how water-resistant the zippers are.

Any other recommendations that would fit my needs are very welcomed or if you happen to have the black hole 32 or any of the other products from the black hole line I'd love to hear your experiences.

UPDATE: I ended up ordering the black ember forge. The expandability makes the bag so much more versatile which was important to me, the ability to hide the shoulder straps and carry the bag by the side handle makes it a better fit for my work environment, I really like the style of the bag but it doesn&#39;t make the bag less waterproof or durable and I can see myself using pretty much all of the compartments. Recommendations for 30-35l backpack for motorcycle commute and light travel

 What happens then, is that the main component of the bag has a hollow bottom (like a cave) that just makes the bag awkward when putting documents. Documents can't sit flat inside the bag (see video) and I just don't feel secure putting my items (such as a keyboard) inside of it due to the off chance that it snaps.  I bought the bag in USA, but have since left the country. I will be contacting Osprey to see if they can arrange some form of return (If Osprey's customer service is reading this, please contact me if possible)

 The inner design of the laptop sleeve. They seemed to have changed the design between their pixel and this transporter bag. Previously, the sleeve is part of the entire component of the bag in their pixel. But for their transporter zip top, they seemed to have separated this

 This probably isn't a good idea for Osprey as it will result in many people returning their items for a warranty in the foreseeable future. 2. The inner design of the laptop sleeve. They seemed to have changed the design between their pixel and this transporter bag

Unique shape, which unfortunately just doesn't work

 The shoulder straps and the back panel are comfortable while the pockets and compartments are smart to keep you organized, let's check it out. It'S made of the same weatherproof fabrics: Osprey uses to make their durable duffels they're a personal favorite of mine that can stand up to the wear and tear of everyday travel. Now the main compartment opens wide with the burly zipper. The bigger stuff can be dumped right in, while small items are kept organized with the mesh pockets

 There'S a clip for your keys, a slot for a tablet and a padded pocket for a 15-inch laptop. The lid has a pocket on the inside and on the outside. I'D stow my phone and my wallet in the front zipper for easy access and my water bottle on the side away from the rest of my gear. Many packs like this have simplistic shoulder straps that are just sewn right onto the pack body individually, but Osprey is different

First time onebagger here planning a month long trip to Europe, trying to avoid checked bag fees. Looking for a bag in the 30-40L range, preferably closer to 30 than 40. Looking for something that looks good (although that's not a big deal) and has a dedicated laptop compartment so I don't have to bring my case. My price range is around $150. 

 Question:

Is 40L excessive? I'm trying to stay on the smaller size for various reasons, but also have enough room. I want to avoid the possibility of having to check my bag for weight or size reasons, as I've heard that this can be an issue.

 The interior lid mesh compartment is perfect for a large pair of headphones and anything else you don't want to end up at the bottom of the bag. Moving to the outside, the water bottle pocket easily fits a 1L Nalgene with room to spare. The central back pocket is perfect for a rain shell or gloves, and the outer lid soft pocket is more than enough for sunglasses and other small things that need to be readily accessible.  Build quality is excellent, materials feels substantial, and the straps are very comfortable
