At the end of the day, the Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 40L is a solid duffel.

The water bottles seem pretty robust. I like the 2 outer zip pockets on the length of the front and top of the bag. I wish the key leash was in the top exterior zippered compartment vs the interior zippered compartment because it's awkward to get at, but it is more secure. Inside, besides the zippered compartment there is a laptop sleeve and a tablet sleeve with very minimal padding, but I keep my Macbook in a neoprene sleeve, so not an issue for me.

It looked more like it was a part of my back rather than a classical "backpack"-look. The Black Hole material is fantastic. It looks really nice and is extremely durable. Luckily I haven't been in a position where it would be able to rip, but from what I've heard the material is incredibly durable.

I have been taking a break from my synapse 19 and using a more versatile Patagonia black hole tote pack which is designed to be more of a packable day-bag. I find I like the more cavernous dump and go aspect to it, coupled with the fact its a tote or a backpack, has made it my new go-to.
