 At the same time, so to wrap things up, this obviously is a initial impressions review. I have had this a week and i haven't been using it on really hardcore backpacking or ski touring trips, and i doubt that anyone else has because patagonia had a supply shortage. So they were not able to produce these that much. So that's why they first now in late october, came into the stores

 That'S one explanation i would have, but it has this little bit of flux over here, so it is also possible to put this probably over some gloves and get a better and more snug fit, and that are already the features of the r1 air that i am Wearing now talking about a light weight, my size, sr1 air zipper over here is 268 grams light. That'S quite a decent light weight for a mid layer that you're going to wear not on your own, but likely underneath a windshield or a hard shell, or even some kind of thicker insulation jacket, speaking about wearing something else with the r1 air. I think, even in this kind of warm weather, so five degrees and sunny, this is for me too cool, at least, if i'm not doing something really fast. So if i would be cross country, skiing or ski touring or trail running, this probably would be fine

It is a wonderful purple, fleece, mid layer that i'm wearing right now and it was probably the hottest piece of gear that was presented at the ispo 2020. In munich in this january, a quick disclosure before i kick things off, i bought the r1 air that i am wearing from my own money. I don't have any affiliation with patagonia, but there will be affiliate links to this sweater at online stores across the globe

 If you would wear something from cotton or merino wool. A little bit about the features of the r1 air you see over here there is one zippered pocket, it's pretty small one, maybe a cliff bar or something like that or your headphones or a couple of batteries fit in there, but definitely no normal sized. A map fits in there, the zipper over here on the crew neck that i bought is really nice to dump extra heat and with the high collar over here, you also keep your throat and neck worm. So if you forgot your buff, then that is not a problem, because this will keep you toasty over here at the hands

Patagonia R1 Air - THE lightest and warmest Midlayer ever?

I am currently looking for a Midlayer Fleecejacket for Hiking. I already own a very light waffle fleece jacket and the Proton LT Jacket. I guess a thick fleece like the Kyanite AR or Covert would close the gap between the Proton LT and my light fleece jacket just fine. What do you think? Or any other recommendations? I plan to use it as a mid layer under a hardshell

Midlayer Megathread

 It'S got um just parts uh reinforced cuffs, which means when you put it up, they don't stretch. So when you want to dump excess heat, you can do, and also one of my favorite features ever is the zip neck and collar. Once again, if i'm trying to dump heat, i can do so really easily also a nice little pocket where i've had my compass today when i've not been using it, it's a just, a quick, tough pocket over the top, that's stitched over the top of the fabric. It is it's not warm enough for right now, but it is very warm

 The uh, the r1 air, is a perfect complement to patagonia's famous r1 fabric, so the r1 air is a little bit different and it's great for activities where you're out all day and you're constantly generating heat, because that excess heat can just do this up here. Like my jacket's about to so come into store, try it on and see if it's the one for you, i really love it. One thing to note about this is that normally i'd be a large, but i've had to go up to extra large on this model. The large did just about fit me, but it was quite short both on the both on the arms and the waist as well so extra large

Patagonia R1 Air Zip-Neck in action - Mens Expert Review [2022]

 Warm, but not hot. Great for all activities. Looks sharp even when dressing up a bit. Water resistant and 3 zipper pockets

Tl;DR Looking for a the best **casual** zip hoodie for planes, around town, office when they crank the AC, etc. Budget is $100, but I'd be willing to push it to $150 for the right item. Beyond weight and warmth considerations, I don't want something that looks like a jacket. Hood is optional, but would like it if possible.

I currently take an American Giant full zip hoodie with me for this purpose. It is bombproof and warm but also bulky, heavy, and not exactly comfortable...whenever I see it on a list of "most comfortable hoodies" I dismiss that list.  

I know there has to be something better out there. 

Things I have considered:

Various Amazon Goodthreads Hoodies. The price is right, but the quality seems lacking. I like the fact that my AG hoodie has been around the world and has a story and I hate buying disposable clothes.

Other mostly cotton options (Reigning Champ, Carhartt, Flint &amp; Tinder, etc): Hard to find the weight of the item. Concerned it will have the same bulky/weight issues as my current option.

Recommend a zip up hoodie?

 So this is the hand pocket just to give you an idea. The size of the hand pocket and the other side the drop pocket. You can fit your whole family's ham, sandwiches in there you could probably fit three or four ham sandwiches and then your lacroix or tall boys over here, whatever you need to fit mittens glove beanies. All the stuff, big drop, pockets and again tiny zipper right here and um

 The material itself is really really comfortable. I would say one of the most comfortable garments i've tested from them before and then the hood hood nice and tight scuba hood right there. So it doesn't get in the way when you're looking around very cozy. In fact, i had the hood on last night as i'm camping in our sleeping bag, so uh stretch cuffs as well, so you can, you know, bring them up a little bit if you want to or just have them nice and tight and low so there it Is the patagonia r1 air there's a whole line of r1 air products, pullovers quarter, zips, hooded non-hooded jacket and so forth men's and women's available we'll have links below where to purchase? Patagonia R1 Air Hoody - Ultra Breathable and Comfortable

I have a few:

1. Xero Sandles: not very comfortable, kind of heavy, wasn't much of a benefit over flip flops

2. Universal Plugs/adapters: big and bulky, it was cheaper and more convenient to just buy a cheap small adaptor for a particular area then have a universal one.

3. Convertible Pants that turn into shorts: God this was dumb. They are ugly as pants, and you never end up turning them into shorts anyways. And if you do you run the risk of losing a piece and having them be permanent shorts. I hate these with a passion.

4. Travel belt: Bought a grip6 belt. Wasn't stylish enough to be a nice belt, wasn't convenient enough to be comfortable. 

5. Darn tough socks: I know these are a favourite here. And it's not that they were bad, but they were very similar to other merino socks. Socks are socks, and they will eventually rip. I get you can return them, but for the cost of socks it is barely worth the hassle to do so. The cost vs benefit isn't anything special.

What did you guys buy that didn't work out as well as you thought?

EDIT: Darn tough on sale is a great deal, they are great socks, I just don&#39;t think the value is anything special at full price.

EDIT 2: After some conversations in the comments I wan&#39;t to clear up the Xero shoes, I had the DIY sandals, which share some similarities, BUT are ALSO different from the other products they have. There are tons of good discussions on them in the comments that point out various pro&#39;s and con&#39;s.

I'm quite confused by the plethora of different fleeces, midlayers and softshells like they all look the same and tend to overlap in function. What would be the most versatile setup for like ski touring, XC skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, rock climbing, running etc for east coast Canada?

Fleeces: Aptin vs Delta MX vs Fortrez vs Rho AR?
Shells: Gamma SL/LT vs Norvan vs Incendo vs Trino vs Nodin?

Till now I narrowed it down to a breathable and technical fleece like the Delta MX and the Trino SL jacket and pants for the most versatile setup. What would you recommend?

What would be your layers?

I am staying in Scandinavia where you need clothes to handle colder and warmer weather throughout the year. I used to have a big winter jacket but obviously that’s uncarriable so I need some high quality layers. What would your choice be to quickly adapt to any weather?

In daily life you don’t need much protection as you can warm up inside. But I want to be able to go on longer hikes as well.
