I have read into the upcoming hdmi 2.1 monitors and realised i a) wouldnt ever have a pc powerful enough to utilise 4k 144hz and b) struggle to get any xbox games running at that too.

I therefore want to get a 1440p monitor but am confused as to how to get the best of both worlds with 4k downscaling. I have been discussing multiple options which do this (odyssey g7, msi 274qrf, dell s2721dgf) however i cant seem to find a definitive answer online to see whether monitors support both:

A) 1440p 120hz vrr (am aware hdr is blocked here by xbox)
B) 4k 60 hz downscaled with HDR support and VRR on too.

Im pretty sure 1440p 120 is fine for most but im reading most 4k 60 hdr signals then stop vrr - is there any monitor which still allows freesync / vrr on downscaling mode with hdr on??

Hello all, looking for suggestions on what 1440p 144hz monitor to get. Preferably in the mid 300 to high 200 range. My current build includes Asus KO RTX 3070, Intel i7-9700k. Having trouble deciding between VA and IPS. I’ve seen lots of reviews where IPS glow forced people to make returns/exchanges. I don’t really play FPS besides valorant or Overwatch. I would mostly be focusing on single player RPGs (cyberpunk/AC). Currently playing on a 1080p 144hz AOC.

I have two monitors atm but it's the classic nice monitor and the monitor that you randomly found in the basement that runs at 720p kind of monitor. I want to replace it with a 1440p 144hz to make as my main monitor. Looking for something in the $200-low 300's price range and at least 23inches. Wondered if anyone had good recommendations
