 Now on 1000 steps It was only off by five steps, which is not even one percent So the clear winner is the Polar Ignite 2. Next up the heartbeat sensor and I don't like him So in several walking workouts, my heartbeat was all over the place on both devices The Ignite 2 always jumped between 130 beats per minute and a normal 90 beats per minute Whereas the Ignite jumped to 164 beats from the get-go and after 15 minutes It came back down to about 90 beats per minute I did some more testing, showed some more test results in the single videos I made about these two watches So just follow the links below Another thing that I have to mention about the sport modes is that the Ignite 2 breaks down your use energy into carbs, protein and fat Whereas the Ignite only tells you the amount of burned calories. Now the navigation and handling on both watches are pretty much the same Swiping left and right takes you through your tiles, swiping up takes you to your notifications and swiping down takes you to the quick panel I must say that these two watches are not very responsive and are lagging quite a bit Sometimes they're lagging less, sometimes they're lagging more, but overall not that amazing So we basically covered all the major differences in these two watches and as you may have noticed They aren't that many and if we found some They're not that big. Now I only have two more differences for you

 Now the first point on my list is the design And if you look closely there really isn't too big of a difference in these two watches The watch bands look the same. Right now I’m looking into the Polar ignite, vantage M/V, and the Garmin Vivoactive 4. I seem to like row Polar  because of their design.

The new dual-band GPS chipset, while it certainly wasn't bad for my testing and was a lot better than what I saw out of a device that only has the less powerful single-band technology, but doesn't appear to be quite as spot on in some other companies' dual-band devices. But in terms of features, I think this offers a lot for that $330 price tag. So if you're looking for a watch that can track a lot of your health metrics while offering plenty in the fitness and sports department, all with a great display, I think the Ignite 3 is worth a look

 And in terms of how accurate it is from the standpoint of total distance, like on this run, we're good to go. Very similar to the other watches I was using that also have the same kind of dual band technology. And then for the finer detail of the GPS tracks, let's take a look at this map. And I have the Polar Ignite 3 in orange, by the way

So like on the straight sections of road right here, very much in line with the sidewalk, as well as the other devices that have dual band. The purple line that you see, by the way, is the Google Pixel Watch that doesn't have dual band technology

 There wasn't ever so slight blip here as well as a little blip over here, but other than that, this is basically perfect. And then for running, it did a pretty decent job here too, but not quite as accurate as the previous example. Oh, and this weirdness over here is my chest heart rate strap dropping out for some strange reason, so we can just ignore that. But for the remainder of the run, it was actually extremely close to the other heart rate monitors for the majority of the run, but it did have a few spots where it got off track momentarily

Polar Ignite 3 Review // Their Biggest Upgrade Yet!

My last one was Versa which I replaced for free as I refused to pay more for a newer model. With the way sleep tracking changed and all the interesting insights are now in the pair version I got Polar Ignite 2 recently. I couldn't be happier, I get detailed sleep and workout analysis, including various workouts and tips and information that I couldn't dream of when owning a Fitbit. The only thing I'm missing is multiple alarms

I've been thinking about getting a Fitbit for a while now but after doing a lot of research, it looks like there are a ton of complaints (including a lot in this sub) about how a bunch of the models, especially the Versa 3, don't last more than a year and Fitbit refuses to help you out if your warranty is done. I really don't want to spend over $150 on something that'll just crap out and be replaced in less than two years. Is it too much of a gamble to get a Fitbit?

 And here on the Polar Ignite 2, they reckon you get around five days of use per charge. I find it's closer to actually four, maybe four and a bit. So it's definitely better than the likes of the Apple watch and the Google Wear OS watches, which are typically charging at least once a day, about the same as some of the Amazfit watches. You tend to get a few days out of those

 Now you've got a proprietary OS here on the Polar Ignite 2, you can actually set it up and start using it immediately without connecting it to a smartwatch, but to unlock most of the features, you will want to download the Polar Flow app from the Google Play Store. I've got to say, much like the watch itself, it's not the most attractive effort I've ever seen in the world, but it gives you a nice, concise overview of all of your main stats, including how many steps you've taken, how many calories you've burnt off, how well you've slept. And I do like the clock-style presentation on the main screen, which gives you a brief overview of how active you've been throughout the day, your sort of key heart rate measurements, stuff like that. Now back to the watch itself, and what you get here is a 1

 So it's definitely better than the likes of the Apple watch and the Google Wear OS watches, which are typically charging at least once a day, about the same as some of the Amazfit watches. You tend to get a few days out of those. But if you are looking for even longer battery life, the likes of the Huawei watches, I would highly recommend which tend to go for at least a week and a half, even with all the features including always on display active. So there is my full final review of the Polar Ignite 2 smartwatch

Polar Ignite 2 Review | Flawed Fitness Smartwatch

They are all equally disappointing once you settle into using them. I've had Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, Apple watches.  It's not uncommon for me to periodically evaluate / use one when there are new features updated or old features fixed.  You just learn to make the best of one for the use that you need.

I've had a Forerunner 245 for 18 months now thanks to Santa bringing me one Christmas 2019 (he could've used his own bank card instead of mine). It's been great for encouraging me to run and offering somewhat useful stats but I'm starting to lose faith in it and so falling out of love with it. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or is this stuff that we all just accept? 

**HR monitoring is** ***kinda*** **accurate.**

* I've had to turn off the abnormal alerts as it'll often tell me my HR is really low when at rest, which I've disproved by checking my pulse.
* It'll also often have spikes when walking, jumping 30/40bpm for a moment then returning - this seems to be the equivalent of cadence lock when running.
* I'll occassionally bit sat at rest and click through to HR out of curiouristy and again find it's out by \~5-10bpm.
* HR accuracy when running isn't actually that good. My stats differ considerably when not using my chest strap - but I shouldn't need to use that all the time, the watch should do it.

**Talking of running metrics...**

* Cadence lock is a problem. Cadence has occasionally recorded as zero or a single, odd value such as 115spm.
* Vo2 max isn't Vo2 max by any means, despite what Firstbeat will say. It's a very basic calculation of pace against HR which is mapped to an index of what Vo2 that pace and that HR may indicate. It doesn't consider heat, humidty, load, hills (up or down), elevation, etc. (I know there's an argument that says it's reading HRV too, but I don't buy it's useful. It's simply not accurate enough based on the rest of the performance.)
* Run slowly? You're losing fitness and are "Unproductive". Run intervals? Wow, you're so fit! Run with a friend and chat? Higher HR and you're losing fitness.
* Intervals without a chest strap aren't read accurately because the wrist based OHR can't keep up quick enough.
* Unless you're pushing your boundries in effort, it doesn't think you're efforts are "productive". Which is great but what about rest or recovery? It's all just a bit demoralising.

**"Health" &amp; "Lifestyle" metrics**

* If I sit at my desk during the working day, my "Stress" level is often at rest. Sat on the sofa in the evening? Now I'm stressed apparently.
* Off the back of the Stress metrics, is the Body Battery. I'm not sure what this is meant to tell me. It's useless to me because I'm aware of how I feel. So I either ignore it or disagree with it.

**Other Sport Tracking**

* I go mountain biking. My FR245 really struggles. I know this is because of rough terrain and/ or whilst gripping my bars and both things effect OHR accuracy. But still, it's as good as useless - either recording a HR as far too low for the duration, or only occassionally being accurate and so recording huge spikes from seemingly states of rest to munch higher. This then causes false reports of aerobic/ anaerobic impact. Which then feeds back into the other health metrics. 
* It simply cannot do weight training. Auto detection doesn't work (in part because I have two arms so only guesses with low accuracy at what activity I'm doing). Manual tracking is tiresome and requires much more input than many other apps. As with biking, the HR is way off and again yes it can be solved with my chest strap but it's more faff. 

I should point out, I've had a replacement device from Garmin after going through support - which was excellent in terms of service. Additionally, I should point out I am wearing the device correctly (and have experimented with different positions and tightness), I don't have overly dark skin, nor am I overly hairy or have tattoos. 

I do enjoy and benefit from the convenience of time, pace and distance for running and cycling. Distance covered during a day is mildly entertaining too, as is playing with watch faces. But considering the features that are "accurate" and actually work, I'm left with a glorifed and very basic device for time, pace and distance and notifications from my phone. 

As I started by saying, do we all accept this stuff or have I just the bar too high by expecting it be accurate for everything it says it can do?

I do enjoy and benefit from the convenience of time, pace and distance for running and cycling. Distance covered during a day is mildly entertaining too, as is playing with watch faces. But considering the features that are &quot;accurate&quot; and actually work, I&#39;m left with a glorifed and very basic device for time, pace and distance and notifications from my phone. 

As I started by saying, do we all accept this stuff or have I just set the bar too high by expecting it be accurate for everything it says it can do?

I'm falling out of love with my Garmin...

 vs having to press the button on the watch itself. I wore this and my Fitbit at the same time for a day and calories burned readings were significantly different (polar ignite being much lower). Not sure why that would be.

 I haven't had this watch for very long, but I have used it enough to get an idea of its functionality and how accurate it is. So this review is mainly from the perspective of a runner. I run ultra marathons, I run long distances, I run on road, I run on trails. I'm not much of a cyclist or a swimmer, so I can't comment on those unfortunately, but I do ride the indoor bike sometimes and also do some strength training

 There's some variation, but there's not a whole lot. You got to remember this is a wrist based heart rate, so it's not going to be perfect. The best accuracy will always come from a chest strap. But both of these devices do pretty well here

 I think it's really going to give companies like Fitbit a run for their money because for 200 bucks, you're not getting GPS in the device from Fitbit. There is not much in this price bracket that can do all of the things that this can do. And with a battery life of 17 hours in GPS mode, that's enough battery for most people. That said, it does have its quirks and it may not be for everyone, but for $229, you're getting a lot for your money here
