 Below I'll compare the two to each other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Review for the following type of water leak detector: $99 - Proteus - Wifi Water Detector with Buzzer and Email / Text Alerts [URL REMOVED] Purchased 2 of these It only took me about 2 minutes to set this up. The wifi was easy, the website seems good. The only long term concern is that this depends on a hosted web service for notifications, so that part only works when the site is up

 I have used Proteus products before on semicondutor high tech metal evapoators costing hundreds of thousands of dollars which used 20 kwatts to 50 kwatts of power. They were cooled by water that had Proteus flow detectors with interlock switches that turned off the system when low water flow was detected saving the equipment from a melt down and it worked all the time protecting year after year. This is the reason I chose this water detector.

This has been a good product for the few months I have used it. It detects water in my sump pump and sends a message on my smart phone in under a minute. The other use is it also alerts me when the power goes out by telling me it is not detecting which usually means the power is off in the house or the internet is out and it tells me when it is back up and running. This product is much better than any other product I have used in the past and I have used many only to send them back

It notifies me within 30 seconds after it detects water

 Now I can have some peace of mind when I am away from the house on weekends, or, for longer. If this works well (stays connected and alerts) over the next three to four months I will probably buy some additional sensors to add to the network. The ones with alarms are great when I am here but when I am not I will be counting on Proteus to send me an e-mail.

 It was the easiest set up I think I have ever had with any device. Instructions were clear, easy to follow, not complicated and the device functioned immediately. Now I can have some peace of mind when I am away from the house on weekends, or, for longer. If this works well (stays connected and alerts) over the next three to four months I will probably buy some additional sensors to add to the network

 I had significant water damage due to a water pipe leak and I have installed this where all the major pipes and stacks are located (the source of the leak). I can say however that set up was five star. It was the easiest set up I think I have ever had with any device. Instructions were clear, easy to follow, not complicated and the device functioned immediately

 Kinda cool knowing that it will work. Don't rely on the power outage obviously - it's not going to send texts to your phone when you're router is offline. But if it is offline for more than 30 minutes, it will send a text which is nice. it's a little expensive for what it is, but it works
