But, these are the most comfortable shoes I own, the leather has perfectly molded to my foot after so much wear. For $80, I've gotta say, they were worth every penny. Would highly recommend as a starter moc.

1 week in and I love how the leather has already started to patina and the cxl has begun to stretch in all the right ways. I am starting to dig this moccasin construction and see another pair in my future. All in all, a great experience with a great company! Tried the Keen Newports and Jungle Mocs, and liked both generally. Tried some Rancourt Ranger Mocs -- loved those but they were a bit pricey.

Sperry's Gold Cup boat shoes seems to be of better quality than their standard line. Personally I don't like boat shoes too much, but love my Quoddy Blucher Mocs and Rancourt Ranger Mocs. Great quality versatile shoes that can be resoled once the sole wears through. In my experience the Vibram sole of the Quoddys is harder wearing, but the Rancourt are more comfortable.

The collection threads have helped me tremendously in developing my own taste in footwear. In the most recent threads, I noticed I was able to quickly identify, resonate with, and appreciate some collections just by skimming through them.

The whole “shoes made of human skin” was exactly my reaction when I got my Rancourt ranger mocs in natural Essex a few months ago. It took a few coats of conditioner before they were dark enough that I didn’t feel like Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. Like you, I bought them for patina potential, but out of the box they were very...fleshy.

After some time it feels like you're walking barefoot on pavement. I also got Rancourt Ranger Mocs (half size down) and they are way more comfortable and softer.
