This is uncommon in anything outside of an 877 where right above the welt right on the first half of the upper it's one piece of leather that wraps around. Where most people think that an 875 is just a cut down 877 but it's very clearly not

 And that's about it man, like the main annoyances are they take a long time to put on and your feet don't flex as much, because they're so like, yeah, protective and long shafted, but if you're cool with that, there's no going past the 877, this is one of, if not arguably the most iconic American Heritage boot, and it definitely deserves a place in the rotation of any guy who likes tough, cool ass boots. The 877 is a really good boot

 So yeah, water and muck is not likely to make its way onto your feet. The break in is not as bad as other Redwing boots, which are kind of famous for a tricky break in. They're resolvable of course. The long shaft confers a feeling of protection and support and they look cool as well

 Not a big deal and won't hassle with returning them because they're just work boots that will get thrashed anyway. I'll have the stitching repaired on my dime when I get them re-soled. Hope y'all have better luck than I did.

These are genuine Redwing 877 8" boots...sold and shipped by amazon when I ordered them

I ordered 2 pair because the price was good. 1 pair was perfect

 Some of the cons. The pros are that these are incredibly high quality. They are sturdy they're built well, the stitching is fantastic, the material is really really rock solid. I also love as a guy who's, slightly challenged in the vertical arena

 But if you do encounter those elements more, then i would highly recommend getting a pair of red wings. Um the mocto in oro legacy 877 or 875. again, they're they're, basically, sister boots uh give it a shot, they look awesome. They feel awesome, they're, high quality and they're going to last you 10 plus years easy, so big recommendation from me red wing boots, one of my favorite things, i'm mark quak

 I would stop right here and just say: hey, invest in one of these you'll be happy with it. It does cost a decent amount. I think these are about 300, but you can tell where the 300 is going like the stitching, the construction, the quality of the leather. So anyway, i all i'm saying is that if you're looking for a sturdy awesome boot, the mocto red wing is the way to go now

RED WING Moc Toes - LEGEND with a CAVEAT.

They fit on the thinner side,it was a chore to brack them in,after that the feel of the boot is good,wish I could say the same for the soles,didt las that much,around 6 months I would say,and now I need to get them to red wings for a new pair of soles. Aside from that they look phenomenal, I would absolutely buy this product again, and did I mentioned this model is made in the USA.

Soles dont last that long.

  First Impression: I am no stranger to expensive footwear (Alden, Gokey, Bruno Magli, Magnanni, Allen Edmonds etc). These are impressively made in a utilitarian way. Lovely thick leather.  Sizing: 1/2 size large

Painful break in but I am optimistic...

 The outsole will also lose it's tread quickly. Typically for this type of outsole, the traction will wear away in about three months. Red Wing has received complaints of the soft outsole, but they still like to maintain the original outsole instead of a vibram sole. There is a 875 version with the vibram sole which is worth it

So for starters, if you plan on breaking in these boots it is recommended you size down a half size. I do not agree with this, because in the process of breaking in the boots, if you ever plan on putting an insole in the boots for comfort, no insole will fit if the boots are tight on your feet. Also, there will be some friction between your heel and the leather inside the boot, causing a nasty blister on your heel if the boots fit tight when you try and wear them and break them in. The boots are already very stiff, so why create more trouble by having them fit so tight

It's up to you how much pain you want to endure with your feet.  For me, I put an insole in these boots from the jump.

Size down???  Not me

  Now, my feet are pretty big I guess, but I'm a slender 6'2" and 175lbs. I wear a 13D in Red Wings, a 13 in Clarks, a 15 in Basque and 14s in most of the knock-about shoes I buy at Big-5. So, my feet are 13+ I guess. I owned a pair of Red Wing engineer boots (2268's) for 20 years

First of all these are great boots, luxuriant leather and an honest piece of true Americana. Now about fit, I see most people buying Red Wing boots sized down a half or a full size then remark or complain about the break-n period. I say you should get a boot a half or full size large and that Red Wings are sized about right for all-round use, so if you wear a size 10 in other shoes, get a 10 in Red Wing Heritage. I live in a town on a hill with a big mountain with steep trails to the east (Ogden, Utah)

..especially if you tend to a 10+ I wouldn't downsize but go for a 10 in any Red Wing Heritage boot. Buy a pair, wear them with pride, look like Steve Mcqueen or an ornery old X-Marine like me, they won't be mistaken for Birkenstock's!

 Informative and you can also see other styles of boots you might like, But anyhoos, The boot is amazing , I'm looking foward to many years of this boot, I got the 8'classic, and I have a pair of 6" classic, ANd i will never ever go back to anything else. One small detail that left me perplexed although is the shoe lace it's not long enough so you might have to skip a couple of eyelets to reach the top of the boot, Well That's all folks!!! Hope this was helpful in making your choice, don't be afraid and take the plunge, and remember don't gripe about the blisters, theyl'll go away and if you don't like em, send em right back.HAve a great day folks!!

Great shoes! Why you should buy!

 I think that little amount of heat everyday helps to break the boot in better also. I have had tried every boot out there n nothing comparies to these boots. U need to take care of these boots but they are worth it. If u take care of them they will last u a life time

 U want to buy the smallest size you can still with the ability for toe room. Your toes need a little space to wiggle but still snug. Let them fit very snug because they will break in and if you don't buy correctly they will be to loose on u after the break in. U should have none to a half inch of heel slippage as most

 You need to buy very thin ones that can fit under the boot. I have tried few different sizes in these boots because I thought some were to tight n to loose. U want to buy the smallest size you can still with the ability for toe room. Your toes need a little space to wiggle but still snug
