Redragon K596 Vishnu (but some unnecessary side keys take away typing space, also maybe not premium feeling enough ?). 3. Asus RoG Strix Scope TKL (this would be in my sweet spot if not for the MX Reds. Are they ok for office work ?

  First and foremost is the volume rocker randomly going berserk and either increasing or decreasing volume completely. This seems like a software issue mostly and I believe can be fixed with a firmware update, but let me tell you that it is pretty annoying to have volume on a pair of floor-standing speakers go to max volume randomly and nearly instantly without being able to do anything about it for a few seconds. I've had to map a mute function to one of the programmable keys so that I can quickly slap it to minimize hearing damage.

  Update: After owning this keyboard for about half a year now I can say that it definitely has two big issues that are worthy of demoting stars from my original 5-star rating. And one smaller one that isn't that big of a deal and is also easily fixable.  First and foremost is the volume rocker randomly going berserk and either increasing or decreasing volume completely.  It's not the hardware, it's the software. I think it's a waking issue while attempting to control volume from the boards sleep-state.  Secondly is ping. Unfortunately this board has it

Long Battery Life

Seems like a solid keyboard but there are a few scratches right out of the box that are deep enough not to wipe off

 There's some subtle LED lighting on the sides of the keyboard which are also customizable to solid colors or rainbow with optional effects as well. You can go wireless with this keyboard if you want. The legs for the keyboard actually make a noticeable difference that I greatly appreciate. Finally, the craftsmanship behind this keyboard feels great

 I believe it's a software issue and informed Redragon about it but haven't heard a response about it yet. This keyboard has kept me mostly happy for 6 months, but I can't say I'd buy it again unless they made a version with reliable switches.

Great Keyboard

 Annoying pinging with typing. The plate which the switches sit on is metal resulting in a pinging sound when typing. This is less audible with headphones on but I wouldn't recommend using this in an office space. Paying 80, I would have liked to see some form of light dampening

 Not too much of an issue but again, when paying 80 dollars for a keyboard, I expected something even a 30 dollar board could do.  Positives: 1. The included wrist rest is nice and I did enjoy it. The fact it is magnetic is really nice

  Overall: I would not recommend this as it fails to deliver on the essentials of a keyboard. The switches, keycaps, and everything else were subpar for 80 bucks. My recommendation is getting a 60% or 65% keyboard for ~30 and getting a more premium TKL board when you have enough saved up. Spending 80-100 bucks on a keyboard should at the minimum be usable without fault

 I really wanted to like the board but if you are thinking about buying this, then replace switches, and keycaps. You're looking at 130+ anyway and might as well go with a more reputable brand such as GMMK.

Avoid this keyboard and look somewhere else

 The current version has an upgraded battery, so hopefully they've corrected this issue :( Another con - the rgb lighting is dim compared to some of my other keyboards. It's not that big of a deal depending on the keycaps I use, but sometimes I want to see the pretty lights. Final con - the volume scroll isn't as responsive as I'd like for it to be.  I might pick up a second keyboard if it goes on sale, as I do think this keyboard is a fantastic buy and Redragon makes great products

I'm just pretty disappointed that after just a couple of years of really light usage, the battery stopped recharging. I currently have other wireless keyboards I use a bit more, purchased about the same time, that still work without issue

 They are a bit difficult to swap out, so be prepared to break a few. If you don't like the red outemu switches it comes in, you can switch them for different outemus, and I'm happy to report that the Akko 3-pin switches work really well on this keyboard. I switched out the alpha switches with the Matcha greens, and it's just a lovely typing experience. Another pro is it is a heavy keyboard - I like that it's heavy, it keeps it steady on the desk if you're working/gaming

It has a nice array of physical media buttons at the top that light up a bright red, so you can see them even in the dark

2 year use review

 Through the software (which isn’t always easy to find but a lil searching will bring you to the download page) you can program not only the macros, but the lighting assignments. The latter has a ton of them, but I normally just stick to one color so I can’t comment on this feature much. Best thing is the wireless feature. 2

  Cons:  If you want to mod this keyboard, you’d be doing yourself no favors. Although the box will come with both a keycap and key switch tool, using them will murder your fingers. Especially the key switch tool.  Which brings me to the switches themselves

 They’re light yet loud. If you want to try your hand at hot swapping or modding your keyboard, this isn’t necessarily the worst place to start. I’d advise anyone with modding in mind to really go the less expensive route with a Redragon Kumara with the hot swappable switches.  The additional programmable keys (G1- G10) are great for those who need macros of any kind for gaming or any other productivity oriented tasks

Good single purpose keyboard

I searched hours for a gaming keyboard. I finally THOUGHT I made the best choice with the Redragon Vishnu K596. I was totally wrong. First problem was the software

 It's good for a couple hours while using wireless. I started using the keyboard connecting the USB cable. It's annoying to have the keyboard turn off every few minutes, especially while using in the dark. This was one of the reasons I wanted the software, so I could keep the keyboard lite continuously while plugged in

 Then, I'd switch back to using the keyboard wireless to see if I could turn the keyboard back on, (and that worked). The switch on the back is not only tiny, but a pain to have to turn the keyboard over, since it's heavier and awkward with the wrist rest attached. While in a dim lite room at night, I'd have to turn my lights on to see the tiny switch. Also

 It's annoying to have the keyboard turn off every few minutes, especially while using in the dark. This was one of the reasons I wanted the software, so I could keep the keyboard lite continuously while plugged in. Also to turn off the useless side lights, (available also through the software). The keyboard kept shutting off randomly, so I not only had no lights on the keyboard, but the keyboard wouldn't work at all

Disappointing Beyond

  Fact 4: Key caps decent for the price. I recommend switching them out for something else because their a bit ugly.  Fact 5: This keyboard's software can be easily found on Redragon's site. The side lights can be turned off

Fact 1: G1-G5 macro keys do not work wireless. They only function while wired into the computer. A interesting situation considering that G6 - G10 worked wireless. I can't understand the logic Redragon used to limited G1-G5 to only worked wired

 Stupidity is a good word to describe Redragon's decision to limit the keyboard's macro keys. Why Redragon? Why???? Why?????  Fact 2: F2, F3, & F6-F8 secondary functions are redundant. These keys have dedicated buttons--previous, play/pause, next--and volume knob else where on the keyboard. You can't reprogram them to other functions

Let's breakdown simple facts on this keyboard
