Despite what we would describe as a somewhat uninspiring appearance, the REI Co-op Camp X is a surprisingly versatile chair. Though it sits slightly lower and has a shorter back than similar models, this geometry doesn't detract much from its overall comfort. Height adjustable armrests and extremely breathable mesh help make it an excellent experience for whoever sits in it. The Camp X is also more durable than it looks, with strategic reinforcements that support the body without creating awkward pressure points. It quickly sets up and packs up with a simple accordion fold and slides relatively painlessly back into a durable carry bag that can be carried over your shoulder or with the hand strap. 
While we like that we can fit a big 1-liter Nalgene water bottle into the cup holder, these pockets are not the most secure for smaller drink containers like a 12-ounce glass bottle or can. The odd shape can also get easily caught when putting the chair back into its carry bag. The seating platform also sits a bit lower than others, which could be an issue for taller folks. This isn't the most supportive chair, with a typical seat slouch and an upright back. Still, we think this is an impressively versatile, comfortable, portable chair that also happens to be one of the most affordable options we tested.

We also love the mesh-heavy build that breathes well in warm weather and dries extremely quickly should the skies open up. At just $50, that’s a whole lot of bang for your buck.

What are the downsides of the REI Camp X? The chair sits lower to the ground than most traditional camping models (the seat is positioned 10.5 in. off the ground), and some may prefer the taller back heights that come with larger designs (including the Alps King Kong or Coleman Quad below). That said, we’ve found that both the King Kong and Quad are bulky when packed and take up a surprising amount of space in the back of your vehicle, especially if you are bringing multiple chairs.  We might have gotten these on sale, I don't recall exactly, but it was about $ 30, maybe 35 apiece and right now, there's no real downsides. We'Re seeing. I think the only thing that you know these would not be backpacking tears again. This is good car, camping chairs or maybe a short hike in, but this is these are definitely not light light weight chairs

 So these are really nice for camping in terms of like car. Camping, probably wouldn't want to take it backpacking and it doesn't have a really solid frame, which is nice, but it adds a little bit of weight. Obviously, and little things like the holders. You can put a cell phone or whatever you got in there and then a kind of multi-use drink holder there or it's kind of nice

 It can fit different sizes. You can pop a couple things in there and that's why we got it. So we can toss it in the car and go it's lightweight enough, that we could do a lot with it, but it's certainly not going to weigh us down. So again we really like the lightweight aspect of it and you can see in the mesh it's nice that there's not a lot of additional weight, but it's surprisingly solid when you sit on it and you can see the stitching and all the added support
