 It cut low enough and was easy to edge his beard. He said the beard brush that came with the set was his favorite thing about the set. It's made of a thick wood and the brissels are the perfect thickness, length and firmness.

He has only used the razor itself a few times but plans to continue using it to see if he can get a closer shave to his head.

My son, who is mixed with white and black with curly coarse hair used the razor on his own. He said that it was easy to use and lightweight but the cut wasn't close to his head. I got this razor set with my 19 year old son in mind. It came with a variety of attachments and a nice storage bag to keep it organized in one place.

 I cut my hair very short like boot-camp style. It is very precise for trimming the neck hair. I recommend this model. One year later: The hair clipper still works fine, the problem is the power cord, as other reviewers have mentioned

Amending my review

I have used this a couple of times.  I purchased this trimmer because it has a power cord, plain and simple.  The trimmer does seem to get bogged down sometimes.  Hopefully we can see some better or more robust hair trimming products from Remington someday, this trimmer seems to be a basic starter kit, and not anything that will perform strongly for years

 They really do seem well made so I can see these lasting for a long time as the quality is 10 times better than any we have owned in the past and some cost way more than these do that we have previously purchased. They cut hair much faster than any other clippers we have owned because of the magnet motor and I like that these have an exclusive powercut blade system that keeps the blades properly aligned. These also came with a lot of extras like different attachments, a beard brush, a styling comb and a storage bag to store everything in. Normally clippers come in bulky plastic cases and I much prefer the storage bag it takes up less space and is easier to get into

 The problem is we tend to go through them fast they usually quit working for one reason or another after a couple months. My husband and 4 boys have really thick hair so I do not know if that is the reason hair trimmers keep dying on us or what. We clean them and oil them all the time so they are being well maintained I just do not think the ones we have had in the past were built to last. I was so happy to find a pair of hair clippers that are virtually indestructible and built to last as I am hoping these will solve the problem of having to continue to purchase new ones because our old ones quit working

These get the job done & really are built to last!

 With this razor, that should no longer be an issue; I can now proudly groom with no fear of being inexpertly judged by those still harboring outdated puritan values. The package comes with a beard brush that no one will ever use, a brush for the razor, a small sample of oil, and about two-thousand attachments ranging from "chin shadow" to "Gandalf-length" beard. The instructions say to clean and oil the blade after every use, which is about as much commitment as marriage, but I'd do anything for a good cut. I docked a star for the lousy storage bag

I expected this razor from Remington to come with ammunition, and hum the national anthem, but all I got was a good trim. Mind you, some hairs were pulled, but I had to make about a third of the passes made necessary by my now deceased Philips Norelco toy. The trimmer has a reasonable heft, but not so much heft that I ever felt Remington was trying too hard to convince me that the entire unit was made from military-grade titanium rivet steel construction polycarbosomething casing. The rubberized grip is no simple novelty; it offers a pretty good hold with minimal effort needed on my part to keep the unit steady as the razor blades swath a decisive path through my dense jungle of willful pubic hair

 The trimmer has a reasonable heft, but not so much heft that I ever felt Remington was trying too hard to convince me that the entire unit was made from military-grade titanium rivet steel construction polycarbosomething casing. The rubberized grip is no simple novelty; it offers a pretty good hold with minimal effort needed on my part to keep the unit steady as the razor blades swath a decisive path through my dense jungle of willful pubic hair. I did experience a few pulled hairs near my navel, but perhaps I was sweeping the unit too quickly through the murk. I blame the Super Magnet Motor (tm)

 It confidently trims through my veritable bounty of unwanted body hair without nary any protest. It just hums along quietly, and sadly without tune. Fine by me, the last razor I had sang me the song of it's people at an elevated volume that I was sure my neighbors could hear through the thin paper walls of my low income housing unit. This caused me some embarrassment because it would take me a full half hour to get through my legs, arms, buttocks, private region, arm pits, and beard, and I am positive they thought I was just using the unecessarily loud noise to cover up the sounds of self love

 That's a major down side which will not allow me to rate this other than a 2 star. I don't think I can recommend this product since it did snag & pull at the beard. This trimmer does come with an 8ft cord which is more convenient than the normal 6ft cord that most trimmers have. I guess that is about the only thing good that I can say about this trimmer other than it does come with several trimming guards that may make a different with someone with thinner beards

I use this to cut my own hair (what little I have left). It inexpensive, cuts really well, is extremely quiet and it rather small - GREAT! There is only one bad thing about this, they have a MASSIVELY THICK power cord made onto it. It really gets in the way and is the only thing stopping me from giving this a 5-star. It does not draw much power at all and the bulky power chord makes it hard to maneuver it around your head
