 Finally, we have an onboard reverb, and in this case it's a digital reverb, but Roland has really effectively recreated the sound of a spring. Here's what the reverb at 25% we can bring that up, make the signal wetter. We get that nice springy sound of a spring reverb. gives us a nice tail on the end and has that bloom that a spring reverb provides as well

 I've turned the modulation effects off so we're getting the dry sound. I'm going to bring the distortion up to 25% Here's what it sounds like at 50% and here's what: The distortion all the way up. So having that distortion on board gives us a lot of variety to our tone. We can add in just a little bit of grit

 We've got bass, mid, and treble controls for shaping the sound, and we also have onboard distortion. Now let's listen to what the distortion sounds like. I've turned the modulation effects off so we're getting the dry sound. I'm going to bring the distortion up to 25% Here's what it sounds like at 50% and here's what: The distortion all the way up

 For today's demo, I'm playing a Gibson Memphis ES 330, which is a hollow body guitar with P90 pickups. Here's the dry sound that comes out of one of the speakers in a JC 40. You can hear the JC 40 like all the jazz chorus amps, has a very pure, uncoloured neutral tone. This makes it great for straight guitar playing, but it also makes it a great platform for effects pedals

  If you're looking for the purest clean sounds that bring out the full range of tones from your guitar, you can't go wrong. If you are looking for a hard rockin', head bangin' monster all in one box, you may want to look elsewhere (unless you use an external effects system to get those sounds - the JC-120 will output them perfectly).  But the JC-120 is so pure and clean that it is the perfect amp for any guitarist who already uses external effects (like a POD or separate pedals). I no longer even use the built in reverb and chorus (though both are top notch) mostly because I play through a Pod XT Live, and my sounds already have reverb and such built in.  So this is the little brother of the amplifier, the original JC120. It's a 2x10, 40 watt combo and let me tell you, it's gig ready this thing. It is really cool. Definitely packs a punch

 It's also got stereo in so if you're going to get the most out of your effects, your time based effects and what not with either the input or the effects loop at the back of the amp. It is a really really cool amplifier. I've had it now for a few days and I've been tinkering around with it just trying to get the feel of it and let me tell you, it is so clean and so crisp, it is just awesome. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go over some of the sounds that I've sort of found over the last few days tinkering around with it

The Roland Jazz Chorus has the cleanest tone of any amp I’ve heard (and that goes for Fender Reverb amps too). It is a solid state and doesn’t do fuzz and distortion too well, but if Dreampop is your focus, this is the best amp for the job.

I suppose if you are a jazz musician and only play icy clean guitar this will serve you well. It is solid state which means minimal maintenance. I would recommend this amp only to those who are specifically looking for the sounds this amp offers and not for someone looking for a versatile amp. Personally, I have a hard time getting over the fact that in the end this is a solid state amp (A very expensive one; but it is still a solid state amp) and it does not come close to a tube amp sound quality in the same price range

 Additionally, It does not take pedals well. SO, try it before you buy it to make sure it offers the sound you are looking for.
