I think it's a great Buy, I'm really happy with it. I think this is probably the drum machine for me hit the spots for me.

th all the drum machine sounds you’d want, plus any additional samples you’re willing to load via SD card (If you have a ton of samples in your DAW you’d wanna drag over into the TR-8S, that can actually be a plus). Very little menu diving is really necessary besides selecting samples.

1) TR8S is best suited for classic drum machine playing. It's layout is very similar to a lot of drum machines of the past, with relatively limited sound shaping abilities, but a lot of live performance controls with the faders. The buttons aren't exactly the most comfortable to finger drum on, and I had trouble getting consistent velocity response on the lone performance pad.

Read the manual carefully. You need to format the SD Card in the TR-8S so it creates the correct folder structure. Then you need to put your samples in the correct folder (again, check the manual to see the exact name/location of the folder)—they can’t just be placed in the root of the SD card. They’ll also need to be WAV files (can’t remember if AIF works, too).

Please get your developers to build Start parameter that would “unquantize” individual steps. On the MC-707 we can set a Start value (positive or negative) that enables a step to be moved forwards or backwards on the grid, thereby adding an organic and human feel to drum patterns. I’m so disappointed that the TR-8S doesn’t have this, because all my drum patterns have steps that are intentionally unquantized. Im so bummed as I might have to sell my new TR-8S because of this.
