Rolex Oyster Perpetual

Technically it wasn't used in the first expedition to the top of the Everest, an earlier prototype Oyster Perpetual and a Smith's being the ones used. However Rolex created it specifically to commemorate that achievement. Next year is the 50th anniversary of the explorer 2. Also a great watch but wish the Explorer II had the 3-6-9 and 12 indices like this one, I think it would make it stand out much more.

I recently picked up this lovely little 34mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual 114200 with matte white dial. This model had a limited short production run of two years from 2018 to 2020. The white dial changes color depending on lighting from a matte silvery color to a creamy off-white color. I just love how simple and clean the face is.

The silver dial gives the Oyster Perpetual an extra little bit of “nice” without being super noticeable and I love the traditional style (my grandpa always wore a watch like this when I was growing up). I also have a [36mm Ballon Bleu](https://imgur.com/a/2kPgJh4) (V6F that I was lucky to find backstock of after the raid) that I really like.

Hey Everyone,. After a whirlwind year of trying various watches, this Oyster Perpetual stands alone. Yep, the current state of the collection stands at just one timepiece. But this one has seen the most wrist time and collected the most scratches, dents and nicks from a tumultuous year.

This is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 mm reference number 114300. I bought it as a Christmas present to myself a few years back. I was set to buy a 36 mm watch but a friend convinced me to go for the 39 mm OP as it would suit me better. First I was put off by the color options (white and black was introduced two years later I think) but after seeing in person I really liked it.

After carefully eyeing various watch brands, including Rolex, Omega, and Grand Seiko, I finally decided on getting this Black Bay steel version, and I think I’m in love! I narrowed it down to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual, an Omega Ploprof, or this, and I don’t regret it one bit! I’ve never owned a luxury timepiece before, so it’s pretty easy for me to get lost in the pure craftsmanship that goes into watches such as these.

The 36mm Rolex Oyster Perpetual 116000 is the best everyday watch I’ve ever owned. I don’t know what it is about it, I was actually kind of on the fence about it when I bought it, but I’ve been addicted to it ever since.
