I really wanted to like this stand.  A lot.  However...

  I think it is a good traveling laptop stand but definitely not at this price point. I can get another traveling laptop stand for far less and an aluminum laptop stand to use at home without the fear of it collapsing on me when I am working on it.

So the Roost V3 is a slightly better design over the RoostV2 and definitely better than the Nexstand. However, the biggest upset is that the Roost V3 doesn't come with any protective case at all. Like not even a soft cloth carrying case. Unfortunately there is no third party or even main case made by roost themselves

  I like that part of the product; however, it feels like it's going to break easily I wish I would have picked up one of the competitors for much cheaper because this one feels like a knock off with a premium price tag.  In the end I don't know how durable this product is going to be I just got it today, but, for the price tag the first impression sucks.  It feels like should be worth maybe $19.99 or even $24

I have to be honest, for almost $100 this product feels extremely cheap. It does what it says it will do, it does put your laptop in the air so you can sit comfortably while working for long periods of time.  I like that part of the product; however, it feels like it's going to break easily I wish I would have picked up one of the competitors for much cheaper because this one feels like a knock off with a premium price tag.  In the end I don't know how durable this product is going to be I just got it today, but, for the price tag the first impression sucks

 I am concerned that it won't last more than 6-12 months of daily use, whereas I wouldn't at all be concerned about the life of the Roost. I guess we'll see how it holds up!

I tried both the Roost and the Nexstand and ended up keeping the Nexstand for one reason: the angle works better with my Google Pixelbook Go.  My Pixelbook screen only goes back so far and the Roost puts it at such a steep angle that the screen looks like it's tilted down slightly on the highest setting. When trialing it, I kept automatically trying to push my screen back further, which didn't work, because it was already open as far as it could go. I believe a read another review from someone with a MacBook that had the same problem

  If this wasn't a problem, I would have chosen the Roost over the Nexstand. In summary, it's far superior in quality.  SPECIFICS: The Roost feels sturdier, is smaller (but not too small for security), has actual soft rubber for the feet and where the stand touches the laptop, and even the storage bag is better quality.  The Nexstand looks and feels cheaper

 I’m looking for THE ONE (laptop stand), not a 6-month stand. With all that being said, I understand how challenging it can be to design a device aiming to solve a certain kind of problem. So kudos to the creator(s) of Roost! But I hope the company chooses better quality materials in the future to ensure the long term performance of the product and a loyal customer base.

 When I purchase a product, I envision at least 2 years with it. I expect sturdiness and longevity so I can avoid falling into the constant, exhausting buying cycle (trap) that feels almost like a speed dating spree. I’m looking for THE ONE (laptop stand), not a 6-month stand. With all that being said, I understand how challenging it can be to design a device aiming to solve a certain kind of problem

 For $75 for some bits of plastic, I would have expected much greater consideration invested by the designer.  I'm considering taking my Dremel to the thing to see if I can complete the job that should have been done while the plans were still on the drawing board and still fixable.  Would have easily been a 5-star product if it wasn't for such an obvious and debilitating design mistake rendering this product almost useless, and certainly not worth its price tag.  I would add that this product is completely inappropriate for use while standing
