 Do you ever feel like it was sloppy? Maybe just a little bit, it wasn't, I don't know, I mean it was just like, it really just felt like a nice all-mountain ride, nothing too particularly special about it in a way, but it was just something that you'll be able to do anything you want it to do, really. Kind of like what Scott was saying about the JibSaw, how you didn't have to think about it too much. I think that's pretty true of the Templar, is that you don't really have to do too much to make it act a certain way, you can kind of just ride it, and it's pretty day and catch free with that big rocker nose and tail, so even though you guys ride in spring conditions, in deeper snow, it's a fun board because it's kind of loose, kind of surfy, but it still has a good edge bite too with that manned attraction. Yeah

 Templar, what do you think? So I rode the Templar, and I think this was the last board that I rode, which I think was a good thing because it is kind of that intermediate, start to progress a little bit more kind of board, at least to me that's what it felt like. There's all the features that you would want to start to learn different things around the mountain. Setback stance, full directional, and it's got plenty of pop to learn how to load and jump off those side hits or jumps, still flexible enough to learn how to do some butters, and I would say even more than just learn, just really get into buttering, but not too flexy where you're not going to want to bring it into, I don't know, just like hard-charging groomer kind of runs. I would also be saving $100 if I go with Rossignol because Evo has a sale on a board + bindings package for it. I’m new so I want a good all-around board, but I’ve been skating my whole life so I am picking up snowboarding by fast! I like the long tree runs where I can get some speed, I like carving, and I want to try some freestyle too!. TL;DR: I’m leaning towards Rossignol Templar for the budget and the serrated edge but my board shop guy says Rome is a better brand.

 So when it comes to the Magna Traction on this board, instead of seven big bumps like the big boards in our line, this has 5S Magna Traction. So you have the same two contact points on your tip and tail. We removed the bumps that are on the outside the inserts and then we have three bumps directly between the inserts. They're also 50% smaller than traditional Magna Traction

 Now the best way to look at it is side by side and that's why I'm holding both of these boards. So on a traditional side cut you can see that very smooth line through the radius of the circle. But with the Templar you can actually see that it bows out ever so subtly, creating a variable contact point. For the latest snowboard reviews check out BoardInsiders

 And then you have a side cut between both of those contact points, whether it's a progressive side cut or a true radial side cut. Now with Rossignol and Rad Cut what's going on is between the inserts we actually have a traditional side cut. And then beyond the inserts what's happening is that we go to a reverse side cut, literally flipping the circle. So what happens there is instead of just having one contact point in one spot, you create a transition zone that's variable

 The Amtech on this is 40% camber, 60% rocker. Now that camber is directly underneath the feet and then the rocker rolls out from tip to tail past the insert. The flex rating on this is a little bit more forgiving compared to the other all-mountain boards and higher up in our line and it's rated a 6 out of a 10. Now the directional all-mountain flex on this thing means that you're going to have a little bit stiffer board in the back of it and then in the front underneath the nose it's going to be a little bit softer and more forgiving

Rossignol Templar Snowboard - Board Insiders

 It's an all mountain freestyle board that's directional. It's got a little bit of setback to it, just enough that you're not a true twin. This is a board that you can ride just about anywhere on the mountain, and we're going to break it down for you in this review. This board features Rossignol's Amptek All Mountain, which is 40% camber underfoot and then a 30% rocker in the tip and another 30% rocker in the tail

 That's kind of who this board's for. It's just a deck for getting the job done. It's very meat and potatoes. It doesn't really stand out as being this mind-blowing board, which isn't what it's made for anyways

 When it comes to engaging this board on edge, it's nimble and quick. It transitions from toe to heel with minimal effort. The magnet traction does add contact to the snow so it grips better, it doesn't slip out. This is a board you can progress with and learn how to carve better with

 While I wouldn't recommend this board as a straight-up butter stick, it gets the job done. Right where that rocker zone is creates a huge, huge sweet spot, and it's easy to flex out over it without having the camber fight you. There is snap and response, but not enough to overwhelm me. This is a board that you can progress with, and it's one of those boards that teaches you how to ollie into your butters instead of just rolling forward or backwards

The Rossignol Templar Snowboard Review

 I rode this board at Copper Mountain on a sunny, bluebird day with really high winds, so a lot of the upper mountain was just really windblown and scoured, it was pretty icy, but lower mountain, super solid, snow was a little soft and chundery, corduroy was pretty much non-existent because I got there later in the day, and I rode this with my K2 Indy bindings and my K2 Thraxis boots. For 2020, they added more carbon through the middle of this board to help stiffen it up, and it still comes in at a below the middle of the road flex. Yeah, it's a little bit stiffer through the middle, but you still have a lot of play out in the tip and the tail. There's a lot of torsional flex to it

 You can still just push into it as hard as you want, really just drive that board into the carve and then let it rebound out through the tail and push it out of the carve. This board, it carves well enough for what it is. It's not the worst. It's not the best

 The big thing to note with this board is Rossnell added carbon to it to try to stiffen it up and I think to really push it more into that intermediate level. They market it as a board for intermediate to advanced riders. Yeah, an advanced rider can ride it. It doesn't mean it's going to be the best thing ever

 It's not the worst. It's not the best. It gets the job done. This board is 100% for the progressing rider that isn't pushing it hard yet

 It's got a directional, it's a directional shape, so it prefers going forwards, but if you wanted to ride it switch, it can do that. It's about a medium flex, so it's going to be great for doing everything around the mountain. It features Rossignol's Amtec all-mountain technology. So what this is, it's positive camber between the bindings, and it has rockers in the nose and the tail

 Say it's an all abilities board, so if you're just starting out and you want a really good quality board, this is going to be great for you. But however, if you're progressing or stepping up into advanced territory, this board's going to be great for you as well. It's not really set up for street and jibbing. If you wanted that, there's plenty of other boards on the market for that

 But yeah, all around great boards, the Rossignol Templar. I'm tough with myself. I'm tough with myself. I'm tough with myself

 It's Rossi's all-mountain board, so it's a go-anywhere-do-anything kind of board. So if you like hitting up the piece, going a bit off-piece, maybe nipping into the park every now and then, this board's going to be great. It's got a directional, it's a directional shape, so it prefers going forwards, but if you wanted to ride it switch, it can do that. It's about a medium flex, so it's going to be great for doing everything around the mountain

Here we are with the Templar, a brand new board in the Rossignol fleet this year and it has a bunch of bells and whistles to talk to you about.  So you're going to eliminate that rear leg burn, you're going to keep your nose out nicely. Sintered 4000 base, so the Templar's really, really fast. And you also get magnetraction on the Templar. What magnetraction is, we've talked about it a lot in previous videos, but for those who don't know, if you have a look down at the board's edge there, you can see like a serrated edge

 So that means all the power that you're putting into and effort that you're putting into the board just gets directed straight to your board's edges and you just get great performance from this thing. To be honest with you, it's such a fun, easy board to ride, it's going to be great for all abilities. I mean, if you want to spend the money and you're just starting out, this thing's going to be good for you. But equally, if you're a more experienced rider and you want a sort of high performance board for all mountain riding, this thing's going to be great as well

 Really nice graphics as well. Got to say, you can have a little look at the pictures, but really sort of vibrant base. So yeah, 2013 Rossignol Templar.

 And that is positive camber in between the bindings, so that means the board's really nice and stable and really sort of powers into and out turns nicely and gives you loads of pop. But then they just roll it nicely into reverse camber in the nose and tail and that means the board's really super patch free and also if you're going to take it into powder you're going to get loads and loads of float. So you're going to eliminate that rear leg burn, you're going to keep your nose out nicely. Sintered 4000 base, so the Templar's really, really fast

Alright so the first thing we do is just kind of leaning back and forth on the tip and the tail not really using a lot of force just kind of my body weight and this board is a pretty noodly board especially after that cambered zone in the in the middle of the inserts where that cambered zone is you can see that's a little stiffer but then right underneath the feet right in this zone it's super super playful and noodly so that's a soft board it looks like it's getting up to about I don't know one foot 10 inches or so on the flex so the torsional flex on this board is super comfortable it's really easy for me to just lift up my toe and keep my other foot sitting on the ground so definitely a playful noodly board torsionally flexible it flexes more after the cambered zone than it does in the cambered zone in the center.
