 The magnet test shows very weak magnetic attraction which means it likely is the claimed 18/10 grade of stainless steel. It would be nice if this came a bit sharper - Out of the box my very old cheap grater is a bit sharper than this.  I noticed that the grater plate is welded to the metal rod on the slight underside of it. Because of this all the pressure put on the grater when using it winds up being transferred to the weld

Novel, simple, and heavy duty grater - A tad dull - Manufacturer Unreachable

 This was a Fuji I'd had in the fruit bowl for a couple of weeks - not as firm as a fresher apple, but still firm enough that it didn't have any give when given a light squeeze. The grater struggled to bite into the skin, and once it did, the dull blades tended to pulp the apple rather than shred it.  I really wanted to like this grater, but I just can't. Overall, it looks nice, and the materials themselves are thick and sturdy, but the lack of sharpness is disappointing

  The first task I put the grater to was shredding some sharp cheddar. This was a nice, firm block of cheese straight out of the fridge..

 I've taken a round file to the holes in an attempt to sharpen the blades, but it's slow going (which may be a testament to the thickness and quality of the steel!). Until I can get the blades sharpened up, I'm not going to risk hurting myself by having an accident caused by a dull grater.

Dangerously dull

Summary: Worked great, started to break, Rosle warranty replaced. Would give 5 starts but waiting to see how the 2nd one holds up.  Have had this just over a year (used 0-2 times a week). Unit (medium grater) split apart near the end

This is a high quality grater. It performs very well, and the design is nice with the rubber feet that help you prop it up easily over a large cutting board for example. It goes in the top rack of the dishwasher. My only reservation is the size- it is very long (16 inches) and it creates a somewhat awkward storage challenge in my small kitchen

 I do like the fact that it can be placed over a bowl to collect the gratings and if you don't the rubber feet are sturdy enough to hold to a cutting board ( a complaint about other flat graters). A couple of warnings though: It is a very coarse grater so you should have a medium grater of some sort as well (I have Micro-plane medium and fine hand held graters). It is also very SHARP, so be careful when grating or cleaning. I only gave it a 4 star because of the price: awful steep for a single grater
