From Mesh, to Unifi, and Back again.....

All of them are WORLDS better than Unifi in terms of range and performance. I had 3 UniFi AP's in my house to provide the same level of coverage/speed as a single of the above AP's. Now I'm running the Ruckus R610 as an Unleashed AP permanently. I don't understand why the RF performance of the UniFi line is such crap compared to others.

Prosumer Networking Recommendations

The cheapest r610 was around $99 around November 2020 when a large company upgraded to WiFi 6 and sold all 45+ r610 in 48hrs on eBay. I was able to snag a few and had other friends get some. As for router, I suggest starting with a mikrotik rb450gx4 or higher.

Consumer Wifi 6 vs Enterprise Wifi 5 torture tests?

I deployed it to a coworkers house who regularly had issues when we were videochatting, and the Ruckus seems to have solved them all. I'm ready to replace our office WiFi (Unifi Dream Machine), and my home WiFi with R610s. I like the Google WiFi, but for some odd reason the coverage is not so hot. So one $200 R610 vs 4 Google nodes is probably still a good value.

Replaced a UniFi nanoHD with a TP-Link EAP245

I have tried Unifi AC LC and Nano HD and was never really impressed with it. At least Tp-link EAP series is an alternative for those who have to get new APs vs used true enterprise APs such as Ruckus APs using Ruckus Unleashed firmware which doesn't require a separate controller. The APs that I normally recommend to people online are used Ruckus R610 APs which are in a totally different class of APs than TP-link or Unifi. Ruckus firmware is usually a lot more robust and reliable then business class/Prosumer APs.

Finally getting away from spectrum hardware. Is Edgerouter + AP the way?
