Angry Snowboarder

 You definitely want to be careful up on top of the mountain, when you put your board in, make sure that it goes in the snow, you would hate for this thing to take off on you. Black diamond skins have a lot of tack, I'll have to double check if these are the Glide Light or the Mix, but I haven't used them with this particular colorway on the skins, seems to be working, glue seems to be working well, and yeah, we'll go ahead and put this together. Again, this board's using those plume clips, sometimes I find that the plume clips can actually be hard to get apart, they go on really, really nice together, real easy to lock them into place, and then Solomon has their own little top lock, kind of similar to what Volay uses, as well as Karakorum, and I did have a lot of snow that managed to stick onto the top sheet on the way up, I need to get some of that off, my bindings should be down, these spark bindings are durable, I got some snow on the binding on the bottom, just take it, click them apart, and then buckles are going to go on the outside, definitely easier when you've got the snow away, and that went in nice, clicked in, and the same with this one, if you notice this one still didn't click as much as the other one, but that's okay, and gear up and go downhill. Well, just had first lap on Solomon High Path splitboard

 So far so good, board's touring well on the way up, got the Black Diamond skins, one thing I'll notice though is I got all this snow that is sticking to the top sheet, and it even kind of has that textured top sheet, kind of like my friend pointed out, Lib Tech has, but this is adding a lot of weight to my skis on the way up. So, kick turn, downhill skis always going to go out a little bit farther, going to take it and stretch it way out here, and then that way, when I spin back around, it's easier to get away from that. And then I like to do the flick move, and then start to continue uphill, just like that. Okay, we are halfway up, as I mentioned earlier, snow is like kind of sticking and freezing to this top sheet, and it's got this texture to it

Salomon Highpath Splitboard Test Day 1

 I think it's definitely going to be a good time in softer snow but not necessarily a powder specific snowboard. I was also able to spend a decent amount of time doing park laps on this snowboard and for a directional board I think it has a pretty solid feel doing that kind of stuff. A little bit of a novelty but the flex is a pretty solid all-around park flex. You can jib with it, you can hit jumps with it

 So there's just a little bit of structure in the base of the snowboard that helps it glide even a little bit better in various snow conditions. And a couple other notable things about the high path is that it is noticeably lightweight. The base is made from 50% recycled materials and overall the materials and construction processes to make this snowboard are going to reduce the fiberglass and resin content in the board by about 40%. So there's a bit of an eco-friendly story there which is always nice to hear

 I think the two things you want to watch out for in the park is that slightly longer nose making sure you're not clipping up as well as the setback and taper can give it a bit of a different feel for switch landings and riding switch so something that might take a little bit of getting used to like I mentioned before but not as much of a novelty as on some other directional boards so I wouldn't go out of my way to ride this in the park but if you happen to take some laps through there on this thing I think you'll have a pretty good time. Overall I think this board is going to be a good choice for riders that have a more freeride approach to their riding and are looking for something to explore the entire resort with that has a versatile and manageable feel to it so if you're looking for something like that consider the Salomon High Path. Salomon Highpath Snowboard Review

 You really never have to worry about it and if you're a hulk of a man that really wants to manhandle the board, you're probably going to over flex it and it's going to kick out on you. But if you know what you're doing and you know how to perfectly balance your weight into the flex and lock those flex points, you never worry about it. It's going to be able to butter. Now with jibbing, because it's so floppy, it's really easy to press this board

 It's just soft through and through, I'm not the only one that noticed that it's soft. Right where the tips are with that rocker, softer, a little stiffer through the middle with a lot of torsional flex. This board's soft, it's below a middle of the road overall. Now when it comes to stability, yeah bend your knees

 Otherwise, you know, it's kind of just your resort cruiser where you're not ripping turns all the time. Who's this board for? The eco-friendly all mountain freestyle rider that wants a softer flex. You know, someone that shops at REI and buys their groceries at Whole Foods. So I rarely say this, but I think this is one of those boards you want to upsize on just due to the flex

 So first off, the board's soft and then you put rocker in the tip of the tail. That's going to give you the ultimate platform to lock into a nose or tail butter. You really never have to worry about it and if you're a hulk of a man that really wants to manhandle the board, you're probably going to over flex it and it's going to kick out on you. But if you know what you're doing and you know how to perfectly balance your weight into the flex and lock those flex points, you never worry about it
