We used it for everything &mdash; from technical ridge missions to fast road runs, and it performs. We love the responsive midsole, super sticky outsole, and breathable upper that seems to protect from every type of particulate. We've been running in it for well over 400 miles, and it's still going strong. This unisex shoe seems to do it all and is one we recommend to all our friends, including you. 
While this shoe, performance-wise, is absolutely amazing, the price is a hard one to swallow. The fit also feels large, so we recommend sizing down if you like a tighter feel. Lastly, the collar can be tight around the ankle depending on your anatomy, so be sure to wear taller socks and exercise a little patience getting into them if they don't feel perfect out of the box. This fantastic trail shoe is one you've got to try and earns our highest accolades for its balanced performance, protection, and sensitivity on all types of terrain.

Things that we didn't even know we wanted to be better &mdash; such as removing the protective side wings, adding an ankle collar to keep out debris, or creating an even snugger, refined fit &mdash; have now been improved. The versatile and sticky rubber traction, lightweight, and bomber PU foam underfoot remain. This is our favorite trail running shoe and one we delight in using for big days linking peaks, long runs over rough terrain, or ultra races.
The major downside to this shoe is the price. No detail is overlooked in its design, and the price tag reflects that attention.  There'S a lot to like about this shoe. I think solomon set out to have a a shoe that could cover a lot of distance and a lot of different terrain, and i think they've done that. With this shoe i mean, if you look at races like utmb. You see the start line like this shoe is all over that, so they obviously have an audience

 I was a bit nervous about that, but this thing it almost feels like a suction cup on the back of your foot, which again, i think you add that plus this boot feel you can go like really loose on these shoes and the shoe will stay connected To your foot from the toe box standpoint, it feels like it's a little bit wider for a reference point uh size down about a half size. That'S what i had to do. The nines just felt too long. For me, the eight and a halfs are about right, but if you look at it compared to the previous version, it's just a little bit wider

 It'S here um and then the shoe garage pocket that sits here. So if you put these things on, you tighten it up, and you know you you plug your little keeper inside here. Has a nice clean, fit, keeps things from getting caught and that type of stuff where you're snagging your shoelaces on things. So with that said, let's get up and talk about final impressions in closing

 This is the most approachable and i've got a little bit of a wide foot, though i don't wear wide sizing, but this is one that i think if you've had a want to get into a salomon shoe but haven't been able to get there. I think this is one that's probably going to fit more people than some of their other types of offers, like maybe their s lab soft ground shoe, which is a really narrow, racy type of shoe. This is more of the general fits everybody, but is still a high performance shoe. The upper is awesome

 There right nice just perfect, and i think there even this, this little basket that holds the top of the quick lace system that you tuck in there. I think that's even evolved nicely in the last couple of years, so good job there i'm excited about this upper salomon good job. There midsole material we're looking at their energy saved foam, it's what they call their energy cell plus uh and then there's a thin tpu film. You can actually see it there exposed through the midfoot okay, but here we go here comes the okay: let's do the durometer! All right all right, so i don't know how i don't know how you could run a long race in this midsole

 Nine. Actually, we don't have a women's size, eight uh weight, because this is a unisex shoe just so you know now in my size here we go hold on. Let me just confirm here: 9.2 ounces

 I don't know. What'S going on, but it's like, i don't know it's just a little too lean for me at this point. Okay, but if i was running four to eight miles on the trails boom butter to the bread, but if i'm going over 10 13 15. I just need a little more a little more loving on those feet and legs everybody

Oh they just they wrap around the ankle and i oftentimes don't feel as locked in as i would like just because it's easy, but that don't make it better.  So then they bought out this new eslab ultra 3 and apart from the color, so now it's a darker purple. The main change was that really it has been made out of a different material, which is much more, i guess flexible in the aim to make it wrap around and fit the foot much better and they've also incorporated um. This kind of sock feature here which really does hug your ankle. What they're trying to do is make sure that the foot, the shoe fits onto your foot really snugly, but maybe stops debris and that type of thing coming in as well

 So this is a new one. That'S what it looks like the main differences i'll be able to bring to you over the next 30 days, because i'm actually going to trial them for four weeks 30 days. We'Re going to run at least three sessions a week on as many different types of terrain. As i can find just to see how they perform, whether that be on sand technical trail stairs even on the road, as well as your normal fire trails and dirt tracks, i really want to see you know if the changes they've made, make the shoe more comfortable And perform better, like they've said that it will

Good shoe but not for long distance.

 Second, the material under the laces is very thin, and since the laces are naturally loose, you're forced to tighten them all the way, causing the laces to cut through the upper material and really indent the top of my foot causing pain and circulation to be cut off.

3. It's heavy for the cushioning / bounce, compared to a Hoka Speedgoat for example. 

On a positive note the build quality is great, the colourway is fabulous, traction is okay and rock/root protection is good.

You'll want to love them, but you can't

Only major annoyance is the new design on the laces. It makes it very difficult to get the laces into the pocket as they tie up over the top preventing easy access. Disappointed in this.

Really comfy shoes, much improved on the S/Lab before them which I already thought was comfy.
