I switched from an IPS Asus to the VA Samsung C27HG70 two years ago and no it isn't as bad as everyone here are saying it is. I play CSGO, Valorant etc. at a pretty competitive level (LE/Diamond) and the VA black level smearing / inverse ghosting is really not that bad and once you get used to it after a couple of weeks you won't even be noticing it any more.

Screen sizes in-between are basically a complete dead zone, with the exception of artist oriented 32" OLED screens going for $4,000+ like the LG UltraFine OLED. I'm less sure on QLED. I think the Samsung C27HG70 advertises as QLED but performs meh, and is still a $450+ monitor. Personally I think QLED is a marketing gimmick designed to confuse consumers masquerading as OLED.

Basically, either way, sounds like you're good. LG's already ahead of the curve in terms of picture quality and response times, so it's not like you're an idiot who bought a Samsung C27HG70 and then realized that the G7 was a MASSIVE improvement (ahem--that'd be me. I'm that idiot). Future-proofing is always good, especially right now when we're seeing huge changes in the display industry as they move to HDMI 2.1, but it's not a deal breaker by any means.

I recently bought a Samsung C27HG70 for $400. I used to play with a 4k 60Hz but I figured out that the downgrade to 2k for a 144Hz was really worth it. Anyway, I noticed that the desk stand sucks, it's just huge and takes half of the space on the desk. I was thinking about buying a new one but on Amazon they all look like crap.
