The only camera I've used that was as good as my Pixel was the iPhone and even then it made the images too warm while the Pixel has a tendency to make them too cool

I went just the opposite way.  I had a Nexus 5x, and when it bootlooped on me I made the jump to an LG V30.  The V30 is a very nice phone:  Great screen, a fast processor, and that quad DAC sounds unbelievably good.  The problem is is that LG basically abandoned the phone after two years.  It hasn't seen an update or security patch since August of 2019, which is sad because I could have probably gotten another year or two out of it before the hardware started feeling slow.  So I have replaced it with a Pixel 4a as my daily driver.  I feel much better knowing I will get monthly security updates for the next 3 years.  I'm keeping the V30 as a media player though because it sounds much better than the Pixel.

Yeah, I'm with you. I have a 2XL and I'm completely underwhelmed by the P5 specs. I also want a telephoto. I'd use it more than a wide angle.

I'm thinking Oneplus 8 Pro at this point.

Pixel camera processing and all the Googley software bits are compelling, but Samsung has so much extra with the S20 FE that it's hard to pass up on. Because my P3XL has been haunted by several problems I've been looking around and I keep coming back to the only options for me are Pixel or Samsung. I cannot consider OnePlus because there's some issue with certain bands that my carrier uses being incompatible (so I'm told). 

So I look at the latest Pixel and I'm "okay" with it - no doubt the extra ram and great battery life of the P5 will be a plus. Then I look at the Samsung S2o or Note and I'm *shocked* at the price, disappointed at the camera, and amazed by the screen. Despite recent reports that "the camera sucks less!" I still read reviews saying the Pixel is significantly better for *quick* shots in less than perfect lighting conditions (ie. "most of the time"). Sigh.

Then there is the sw. This is really hard to judge. Do I like Pixel sw? You bet. Does the option-itis of Samsung concern me? Yeesh. I \*think\* it would be better, but I also don't need to run down 3 levels of menus to change something, so....

Then Android 11 hit my phone last week. You've read of people having all manner of issues with it? Well, it's breathed new life into my phone. Frankly, when my 3XL works *as it should* I don't think there's a phone out there that's better.

I'll look at the s21 when it comes out. I think Sam will have a hit with their s20 FE, but it's too early for me (and I saw that review that revealed that discounted s20s were on amazon for *less* that the FE ;)

My battery life is acceptable. Although my screen can't be read outside in the sunshine, inside the house it's a terrific looking phone. My stuttering phone calls are a thing of the past. It... it works now! I can double tap the power button and fire off a pic that is guaranteed to be great. My P3XL  is too good to jump at a P5. What is th P6 offering?

Your real question isn't "is the pixel camera better than the Samsung?"

The real question is "is the Samsung camera good enough?"

and there's that other question "why pay a whole bunch more for a Sammy over a P5?" Remember, you don't appreciate *features*. Only *benefits* \- and benefits are features that you ***use***.

if you take a lot of pictures of people, sure. everyone else still appears to have some face smoothing. IIRC there's a requirement to stop doing it in-camera for Android 11 but if it can still happen in the app level it's moot.

I'm holding out for under-the-hood changes in Android that would help with easier and more convenient OS updates (seamless updates mandatory for devices launching with Android 11, GKI shipping for devices launching with Android 12). once these are in place and the Pixel still doesn't have proper modern camera hardware I'm good to go.

I left after having every pixel phone. My OnePlus 8 pro takes amazing pictures and video. Everything else I'm my opinion is just better too. Loving the OnePlus. 🤙

Lol not only does Sony *make* the Pixel camera hardware, they **also** have bleeding edge software to take things to the next level

I'm actually selling my Sony Alpha Mirrorless because I'm switching to the Xperia 5ii as soon as the borders open up

I want to leave Pixels, but can't find anything with the same camera quality

We were not particularly fond of its high temperatures under load and the CPU’s heavy thermal throttling. Considering the S20’s significantly improved battery life that is a real pity.The Samsung Galaxy S20 offers improved battery life, an extremely bright display, and good cameras. Unfortunately, it does also have its unique set of quirks

Verdict – Very Good, but not Best of the Best

 You know, having a bunch of apps in the background, this phone is going to be able to handle it. Now, if you're going up and stepping up to something like a you know, multitasking with heavier intensive games and multitasking with heavier intensive applications as long as they're supported, this phone is going to be able to handle it. But even if you're going up to heavy intensive gaming and heavier intensive tasks, things like you know, playing massive games, or you know, video editing and photo editing, those different types of things, this phone is going to be able to handle it. And like I mentioned for several years now, since this phone has came out, it is still a very fast phone and I've still had very few issues with it for sure

 This thing had a 12 megapixel wide angle lens, 64 megapixel telephoto lens, then a 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor, and it also had a 10 megapixel wide angle lens on the front. Now you can shoot 4k 60 on the back and the front of this phone, but you also had 8k videos that you can film on this thing too. So that is another really big advantage for a phone like this. And in my experience, when you have a device like the Samsung Galaxy S20, you're pretty much future-proofed in that standpoint

 It has reverse wireless charging which is really cool. so if you're in a pinch and you need to go and charge up somebody else's device or another one of your devices, well this thing's going to be able to handle it which is really beautiful. Now in terms of the battery from to day tasks, this thing is easily going to last a day. For me, it may last a day for you too and I'm pretty sure it will

 So when it comes down to that, I'm going to tell you this is a very solid performing device and I would highly recommend picking it up. From a performance standpoint, it's not perfect. There are some times where things glitch up and everything, but I think that has a lot more to do with you know one Ui rather than you know the actual hardware of this phone. So in terms of that that covers it up there

Samsung Galaxy S20 In 2022! (Still Worth It?) (Review)

Not as advertised.

 That's a substantial gain. it's almost 20 percent bigger and you also still have the wireless charging. and you have up to 25 watt fast charging. but at the end of the day you just want battery life to hold up

 Flying across the screen, there's less tearing. That's where 120 Hertz looks amazing. Yeah, like I said it, it's a must. It's a must

 All right. So battery life? How's your battery been? I don't want to spoil your video and I'm sure you'll go into detail on it. but generally on S20 what's that been like? Uh, I mean I I can pretty confidently hit five hours, uh, maybe even slightly under that. But we're talking about 4 000 milliamp hours and 120 Hertz always on, right? So I'm not going to say i'm I'm I'm pretty happy with it
