The Samsung Smart TV platform on the KU6300 feels similarly simple, but it has enough features to satisfy. Pressing the Home button brings up a small bar on the bottom of the screen with icons for Settings, Source, and Search, plus tiles for live TV, various apps, and a Web browser. It doesn't quite have the visual polish of LG's WebOS, but it's easy to jump into and doesn't overwhelm you with features.

  The LG on the other hand seems to have a lot more settings than the Samsung that I can tinker with to optimize the image. The LG image is obviously spectacular (once you turn off the clear motion soap opera effects), and the interface of the LG is good (basically the same Samsung, just arranged differently). The LG motion-detecting remote seemed like a gimmick at first but I actually have come to like it and I use it now so much that sometimes I try to use it with the Samsung remote forgetting that only the LG has it; however, I do not like the design of the LG remote itself, it rolls around too much and doesn't look as cool as the Samsung remote. Also, I love the TV mount for the LG (the OTW420B), which holds it nearly flush to the wall

 I also must say I like the remote-- it is sleek, slim, and functional. The sound is just ok, better when put into movie mode. Like the LG, I really like the thin trim of black around the edge of the Samsung.  The reason I must take off two stars though is that the picture adjustment options leave a lot to be desired

 When watching HD broadcast TV (which shows in 1080i where I am located), it makes some digital-like blurring/boxy effects, especially around image edges, that don't look good until you turn on the "digital clean view" option, which still doesn't fully solve the problem. When watching 1080p content, the image looks good, but there still seems to be a bit of an edge enhancement effect that I don't like. I should say that I despise artificial effects like edge enhancement and the soap opera effect, but this TV doesn't have an edge enhancement option even though it is apparent that it is doing it-- so I turn down the sharpness and that seems to take away most of the mild fuzz that it adds around edges of letters and such, but not all of it. I also think that turning off the "auto motion plus" does remove the soap opera effect, but I'm not sure if it raises juddering issues (like when watching Interstellar or 4K content on youtube)

 It's fine for what you pay. But I do want to focus on the smart TV software.  This is my first time using a smart TV with really good software. The Tizen OS is very well-designed

 I received a prompt informing me that all smart features would be inaccessible unless I agreed to view ads on my TV. There was no info in the terms and conditions dialogue box, just a blank popup. So I did not agree, and all my apps that had previously been working just fine disappeared. So very close, but the cons and some bad firmware just aren't worth it.

I am calling Samsung Customer service to have them take a look at this TV.  Great picture quality; easy to set up but we have noticed that there is no oomph to the audio.  Ashamed to say I own 6 Samsung TVs and this is the only one with an audio problem.

  is this a good monitor or TV? sure it is. it's got great contrast ratio, and black level, and low input lag, which are the main three ingredients i was looking for at the firs place and it's got all three. in recent years, IPS panel has gotten overrated in the PC market. another common misconception is that IPS is superior

 Snap together, secure with screws. Bang you're done. 3-minutes. Power on, welcome screen guides you through connecting with your cable provider, connect to home wifi, registering with mfr, etc

 Navigation of the setup utilities was seamless and easy. When I wanted to do something, I was able to do it with zero calls to customer service. Hats off to Samsung for that milestone. Some people have made comments about the remote, so I was apprehensive

 And, talk about SMART!!!! When I hooked up my DVD player to the 2nd HDMI port, the set recognized this and asked me on screen if I wanted to switch. Very cool, very user friendly!  Update- 06-27-16. I have just undergone a week of needless aggravation over the Amazon Prime Video app that's cost this rating a star. Let me explain- after two months of working perfectly, the app quit loading and just froze the screen

 Shouldn't have been. The remote has almost none of the mind-numbing array of buttons usually found on these devices. It is tiny as a result. I was able to figure out all the functionality easily, and when you do make a mistake an on-screen prompts tells you what to do

I wanted a TV with smart features, and this one needed to be held back a grade at school

 So, when the Sony prices went down a little for black Friday, I went with the Sony. I have had zero problems with the Sony, plus it has more apps with Android TV (and more should be added as time passes and Android TV expands). I hope this helps! Picture is okay, but TV is stupid, not smart (terrible software)

 The difference is "stunning" to say the least. It's close to "theater" quality surround sound.  The tiny remote that comes with this set is poorly designed and seems "chintzy" to say the least. It looks more like a toy than a functional device

 After explaining the situation to them they shipped me a replacement without question and without any cost to me. My card was not billed even though by that time the price on the unit had gone up $50 there was no extra charge, nothing. Two days later an Amazon special team delivered my replacement unit and removed the defective one. They even offered to unbox and set up the new one for me which I declined since I already had a friend coming over to help me, but I thought it was really nice that Amazon would do this

 The tiny selector ring in the center of this remote makes it easy to select the wrong menu by mistake if as stated before, your fingers don't work right. I suspect this could also be a problem for folks with "large" fingers.  Perhaps if I couldn't afford the soundbar for this, my new review would be lower, but for now I would say that it merits 4 stars. If things change and I encounter any other problems in the future I will once again amend my review
