SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Review

 After a little google searching, I come to find out that these two apps cannot talk to each other. Well crap, there goes that plan, the device doesn't help me out at all unless I pay for another media app. Where was the annotation that it only played certain formats? Where is a list at of what the standard app can and cannot play? I think its really stupid to pay $75 for this device and then have to shell out more for a secondary program.  TLDR: The Sandisk App will only play certain file types

 First off I usually use VLC to watch my media on my iPhone. The flash drive was delivered later in the evening and I didn't have much time to thoroughly test it out that first night. I connected it to my laptop tossed a random movie on it and then switch over to my phone. It showed up after installing the SanDisk app

 -Not able to transfer files to VLC app on iPhone -Why is there no key ring on the flash drive so that way we can connect it to our car keys or just an easy way to transport device -no cover to protect the USB side of the drive when not in use -Videos majority of the time would not start back up where I left off at.

If you are using this flash drive for watching videos BE WARNED!

 Again, it worked just as advertised.  Last test: I transferred some videos from my iMac to the iXpand, then plugged iXpand into my iPhone 6s and the videos played perfectly. (Note: You must view them through the iXpand app.)  The app is easy to understand

Super Device Works Well But With Serious Glitch

 So is it worth it for 256gb yes and no it is faster than the lightning to usb but the java exploit kills any real use for me. If you can get it for less than $50 the 256gb model is worth it but until that exploit is fixed I just can’t fully recommend it.  9/10/19 update Adding a small update, why iXpand app was just updated and it added a new problem. After the update it somehow launches google chrome app

 But I have issues with a bot net constantly bombarding my home with WiFi from a verizon and optimum hotspot so my experience is unique. But it works as advertised and san disk does update the firmware so it may get better. So is it worth it for 256gb yes and no it is faster than the lightning to usb but the java exploit kills any real use for me. If you can get it for less than $50 the 256gb model is worth it but until that exploit is fixed I just can’t fully recommend it

 The Java exploit was resolved on the IOS side but on the windows 10 side not yet it causes my virus scan to identify 2 files as malware so I have put it aside for now. I also own a 64gb one and formatted it to exFat and it killed the iPad’s ability to see it. As for the interface you have to use an app it is a simple interface but if you want to add folders to it you must use a Mac or pc. It can see anything IPad compatible but it leaves an exploit open when you run files off of it so I have to use it offline and clear safari every time I use it

Does what’s advertised but not without certain risks

You're probably have looked it buying one of these storage devices because you keep getting that annoying message on your phone telling you are about to run out of space on your phone. And this seems like the perfect solution and it is up to a point the problem begins as you start using ixpand to back up all those photos on your phone each time you backup your photo to the ixpand the ixpand catalog which is stored in the app on your phone grows in size so every time you do a backup the ixpand app takes up more space on your phone which eventually defeat the reason you bout the ixpand in the first place. The ixpand app on my phone is currently using 3.5gb of space and growing

The Second reason and I didnt think that this would be a big deal at the time is that there is no way of securing the ixpand to your parson its so small and easily misplaced other similar can be attached to a keyring I would definitely recommend going with one that can be attached to a keyring. The app it's self works just ok it can be a bit slow to use especially the more you use it and the photo catalog gets larger it takes longer for the app to sort through it
